    Hi

Im looking to trade in a C-Max 2004 (85kKms) for a car with 3 full back seats.

    Choice is very limited :(

Anyway, I have been looking at:Verso, Grand Scenic, Picasso C4 and anything similar. Not having much luck as mileage on average is up around 90-100k miles in general, more than my current car.

What kind of mileage is generally acceptable for a car from 2008/2009?
Just want to check my expectations are not too high for a car of this age/type..

    Cheers!
    Pix

The mileage on your own car is really low for the year so it will be difficult and unusual to find a genuine 5 or 6 year old diesel car with very low mileage. The average mileage for a diesel car would be between 15k to 20k miles per year, so on a 5 to 6 year old diesel car 90k to 100k miles would be about right.

    Hi Pix

I'll be in same situation please god in another few months. Irish MPVs for some reason have very high mileage. In my view anything above 15k miles a year is high and means that the car is never off the road

That said if its a diesel you don't necessarily want one with fewer than 10k miles as it may mean dpf problems etc

I think 12k is a good middle ground which means for a 5 yr old car around 55 - 65k miles

Check out UK sites and you'll see lots of cars with mileage in this range

I have said this dozens of times. Irish people too often relate mileage to condition or wear. I've seen cars with tiny mileage on them that have been absolute sheds. I'd prefer a car with higher mileage with a full documented service history over a car with low mileage that never seen an oil change. Diesel cars are designed to be driven and there are still people out there that buy and drive them for that purpose.

Thanks a mill for all the imput. All taken on board.

I was looking at a Picasso, but everything I read online says stick to a Japanese make. Renault Scenics seem to be a no-go too.
