Identifying your running weakness?

So, my short term goal is to get sub 20 5k, which I think I will get to in another 6-8 weeks max hopefully.
Anyway, I am thinking long term and would like to know what my weaker running traits are. I believe they are lack of aerobic base which means I am unable to maintain a fast pace (for me) for sustained periods. I am speedy enough for interval periods but fail to be able to sustain this pace. I dont see running a 6 minute mile a hard task but to sustain it for a 5 miler is just not possible

For example, I can easily knock out say 5 x 1mile interval at 6 minute/mile but struggle to put this together to run 3 x 6.25 minute miles consecutively - at 2 miles I just blow. So based off this, I assume my base is weak and I need to work on this, by upping mileage and building gradually.

What do you think is your weakness and more importantly why?

    Good idea for a thread.
Weakness: no natural ability whatsoever. No natural capacity for speed. Good endurance though.
Why? Now that's the question:rolleyes: Wish I knew. Was naturally slow as a child. Smoking from a very early age for years probably doesn't help me now but still, I was slow as a child and always came near last in school races so just naturally slow...
Currently working on my weakness though!

My weakness is that I am too injury prone to ever train consistently hard. Even if I'm willing to do the hard work my body breaks first. I have loads of imbalances and a naturally weak core.

What am I doing about it? Running within myself and building very slowly. Also swimming and cycling a lot and doing more core work.

I haven't really been running long enough to figure that out but injuries might be mine too.

I've only had 3 runs in the last month after finishing 10th in my 3rd 5k ever. I got injured on each one. I laid up for a week to recover and it wasn't long enough. I've been laid up for 2 weeks this time. I'll run 2k tomorrow, if that goes well I'll do 3.65k Friday and if that goes well I'll do a Duathlon Sunday.

If I keep getting injured I'll hang up my Asics and stick to the bike.

I would have no speed either. Just never had it in my legs. I am hoping to reduce my 5k times to under 19 mins consistently. I think I may need to do speed intervals to do this, maybe 400m * 6 or something like that. It is probably where being part of a club would be handy.
