Can anyone tell me when customs payments are due on items bought from kea photo? I have a parcel that is being held in customs which says Awaiting clearance instructions from reciever' does that mean I have to get in touch with them or have I already paid the customs duty in the price? I have no problem paying whatever dues I need to obviously.

It will depend on who the delivery agent is. They should contact you.

This'll calculate the VAT and Duty for you -

Revenue DMC send a letter and then the posty collects what is owed (charging you €6 for the service), some couriers send an invoice later.

Great, thanks a million! Looks like I'll have to pay €500.

That's not quite true, your customs duty and VAT charges for goods bought outside the EU is your responsibility. Just because your delivery agent delivers the goods to you without them being inspected and hold by customs doesn't mean you don't have to pay the duties due. You would have contact Revenue yourself and let them know what at what price you have imported and they'll tell you what you have to charge.

Recently I had a parcel held at customs and the courier notified me that there was a charge which I had to agree to pay on delivery. Then it was delivered to me, duty was a bit steep I thought.

PixbyJohn- did the courier phone you before they delivered the parcel and ask you to have the money ready before you got the package?

I got an email from them and I had to accept that I would pay on delivery. They then let me know when they would deliver.

Is this the 85 1.2? Why did u not order from Kerso in scotland? I know he might have been a little dearer but u def don't pay any extra and he is far cheaper than here...

I got a 24-70 II from Kea, it was held awaiting clearance, I had nearly taken out the 800 quid to get it released, rang TNT, they rang back, no charge in the end. Did you talk to TNT? Email Kea too if you get stung and don't want to pay the extra, Kea will refund you once you send it back (and pay postage).
