Anyway play Mount Juliet lately who would be of the opinion the course is not in good condition for a signature course with lots of us repaired pitch marks, slow greens etc?

Has anyone played Tulfarris recently? Heard it is not been maintained to its previous high standards?

Played Tulfarris On Sunday, greens in the slow side, but not poor condition overall.

I wouldn't expect it to be in top condition, green fee was 20 euro on a Sunday, and the course is as good as any Parkland in the country design wise

Not much growth this last few weeks, less rain and not what is needed after sanding and aeration. Caught out a few coures in the NW, that should be in better shape.

I played Mount Juliet last week, I was really looking forward to it as I had heard great things about it. The course layout is great but it was in very poor condition. Greens were slow but the speed of the greens seemed to change from green to green.
Overall poor experience, but I'd love to play it again in good condition.

Played tulfarris yesterday off the back tees in their "blue monday" competition. thought the greens were in good nick (look liked they had been pole forked in the last few weeks but they ran very true), but the fairways were badly prepared and looked like they hadn't been cut in ages, was disappointed with them I have to say (particularly as playing off the back tees we needed all the run we could get on the ball!).

I played Mount Juliet last Friday and was very disappointed with the condition of the course. The greens were very slow and inconsistent, insufficient sand in the bunkers and a lot more weeds around the place than you would expect for such a great parkland course. Plenty of mushrooms around the 17th green!

Played both recently. Both cracking golf courses.

Tulfarris maybe 4 weeks ago, condition was awful, just soggy and wet underfoot everywhere, muddy is the word.... even in middle of fairways. and we had not got a lot of rain in the days beforehand either so there was no real excuse for it. bunkers were rock hard... any i was in anyway, and not near enough sand in them, the plastic undersheets were showing on a number of them.

Mount Juliet 2 weeks ago. no problems with drainage, but yes the greens were slow. seemed like they had been recently sanded. the way i played, you would be forgiven if you thought i was eating those mushrooms on 17 :) don't think i found to many bunkers, but the couple i did weren't so bad

Have to agree with all that and it was in the same condition when I played it in September 13 too.

I played Mount Juliet today. Anyone playing it for the first time would not be disappointed but i've played it in better nick.
I thought the greens were good - not perfect but a decent roll and speed.
The tee boxes were a little rough but acceptable with old divots holes unfilled (there were no sand boxes on the tees). (Some of the blue tee boxes looked as if they were unused for months and were scruffy and patchy).
The fairways were good and very solid to play from but there were lots of old divot holes and crows had picked out replaced divots.
The bunkers were good. The sand was not raked but they were good to play out of and consistent.

The place is lacking a little bit of maintenance. However, its definitely worth the trip but maybe not at top dollar at the mo.

I've only played it once and tbh I wouldn't be inclined to go back.
The time I played it was during a fine spell but a couple of the fairways (or a few yards either side ;) ) were like a bog.

Most were fine as they should be, but I nearly left my shoe in the ground on the 12th (?) that was particularly bad.
(The hole after the first Par 3 on the back)

Tulfarris is not soggy anymore, played it a month ago, and again this month.

The ground is firm now, when it was soggy off the fairway last month, the greens are much improved but could be cut and rolled, slow enough.

It is such a good course, it is definitely worth a trip in the summer months.

Agreed, it's not in bad shape at the moment. Greens were spiked a few weeks ago, so should continue to improve. More sand has been added to the bunkers too.

Although as Bob81 said above, in the last week the fairways were uncut, which is unusual. Disappointing for the blues competition.

It's a bargain for €20 though, it's condition will continue to improve over the next few months.

Really isnt any excuse at the moment for poor conditions.
Its been warm and damp, perfect growing & recovery conditions. Our greens are rolling very nicely and fairways have all filled in after winter.

My own fecking back garden is growing like a weed too!
