Should clothing sizes greater than XL be banned?

Just saw an ad there for clothing up to XXXXXL. Disgusting.

Firstly it's a waste of material. Environmental impact and all that jazz.

Secondly people wouldn't be so quick to scoff big macs if they knew they would have to wear a bed sheet everywhere once they tubbisize themselves past XL.

    I rest my case.

Why stop there? Why should we allow XL? Are you XL, OP?

I saw we string up anyone larger than Medium.

The thought of a tour party of naked sumo wrestlers wandering through the Guinness store house makes me more than a little queasy.

People who need clothing sizes greater than XL should be banned. And people who need clothing sizes greater than XL who wear anything tight should be euthanized since they're causing severe mental anguish and distress in others

So we'll just have loads of fat naked people walking around.

What a retarded thread, what a retarded idea. The mind boggles.

That's very compassionate of you. Personally I think someone who needs clothes that big may not be leaving the house too much anyway, so I doubt they'd be worried about having to wear a sheet. I don't imagine fashion is on your mind that much when you're busy killing yourself with food.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,691 ✭✭✭michellie

I don't think the XXXXXXL people do much walking anyway, you won't see them around.

Only if they're actually able to walk. But it wouldn't really make a diffence, since all the folds of skin flopping around their ankles cover everything else up, anyway :-&

If XXXXXL is so offensive then call it 5XL.

Or else we could start with XXXXXS and L would become the new XXXXXL.

Or even better you could just try to cope with the reality that there are people of all shapes and sizes in the world.

Don't worry, we'll either change the rule as I get older or redefine what Medium means.

XXXXXL in Roman numerals would be LL, which would be C. And then the bedsheets would be togas. Throw in a laurel hairband and the fatties would be all style. :)

I'm not fat - I'm just Extra medium.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,175 ✭✭✭hoodwinked

please! no more messing with sizes, it's bad enough as is....

these days everytime i buy a size 10 and i have to try it on, some fit some don't.

and why does womens clothing have to be so awkward anyway with their odd even numbers, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18? why can't we size in inches like mens clothing!

that way you pick your clothing based on the inches of your waist instead of saying "oh i have to fit in that size 10" it's ridiculous, we are what we are and as long as we are healthy who cares what size we are.

    /rant

actually feck it i was wrong above why not just scrap sizing completely!

Maybe we could actually learn why some people end up as a size XXXXXL beyond their wishes and try to help them and/or the next generation. What is their relationship with food and why it is so different to other peoples. And it is obviously so different!!

The relationship with food is problem. Eating too much and being so overweight is the result of the problem.
If your car has a seal problem and the result is oil all over the drive, the solution is not to clean the drive everyday.

Personally I think the next generations will look back at this period (all the nonsense diet plans, the 'just stop eating' attitude) and think how naive we were.

XXL is the only size that fits me and Im just an average size Irish fella.
I think those sizes are determined with small Europeans in mind.

The op is missing a trick here.
Whats needed is prescription only large sizes so the clothing with only be available once you visited your doctor.
This will also allow the xl clothing stores to be state controlled where the clothing will cost multiples of what it should cost increasing yearly all in the name of fighting obesity.
Additionally, normal medical card rules will apply meaning clothing for over weight working people will be a major cost to them whereas fat welfare recipients will get free clothing following the free doctors consultation.

Isn't that the whole idea though? That they can scoff big macs all they want, but now they can look good doing it! :D

It's great for a mate of mine who used have to travel to the States to buy all his clothes; nowadays he just goes online and has his clothes delivered in a few days.

I never took any notice of his fashion sense, though a toga would never work here with our windy Irish weather! :pac:

I vote we go back to togas (in Ireland wool togas would be a must!) That way there would be a single size for all!
    What an idiot thread!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,835 ✭✭✭✭cloud493

To give a serious answer, if we provides clothes to murderers, paedophiles, and thiefs, we can give them to people who are overweight. Obviously.

They should just execute people that are that size. They are hopeless cases. What's more, they could be recycled into Soylent Green.

Also people over 6'4" - they take up too many resources.

A significant percentage of Irish kids and adults are either overweight or obese, I believe we are the second worse in Europe, hence the need for larger clothes sizes etc, large car seats etc. And yet there still seems to be a lot of anti-fat feeling from people in society today, despite the fact that so many people are overweight. Its bizzare, its like the Irish people turning on the population for being Irish.

Whatever the reasons, overweight people are now the norm not the minority. Take a trip down any town in Ireland, any pub, hotel, football match etc etc, the evidence is there for all to see. Who the hell are these retarded idiots STILL mocking overweight people in this day and age?
