I think we'd regret selling Borini after a few years, he hardly got a chance at Liverpool with his injuries. He should be given this year to prove himself imo.

For 14m he can go! Good player and could do a job for us but we should bite their hands off for 14m......that will buy us Lallanas right leg.

I'm not sure about Borini. He hasn't shown an awful lot during his time at Liverpool. I watched a few of his games for Sunderland and even though he was doing quite well, I never thought he could come back to Liverpool and contribute hugely.

We'll have to buy more cover in the striker department if we let him go, and we probably would want to spend more than 14m if we wanted anyone quality and young.

He's been injured for most of his time at Liverpool. Has probably played only 1 or 2 games as a central striker as well.

I hope he comes good, he seems like a really good professional, with a great attitude. I just have my doubts he has the ability.

Borini deserves a shot in the liverpool sqaud this year, he has clinched some vital goals for sunderland, and has shown great calm from the penalty spot.
Its going to be a long season with alot of games, we need him, it cannot be Suarez and Sterling up front every game.

I would gladly have him in the team next year, if he stays injury free i feel that he will make an impact and provide a great option on the bench which we severely lacked this season.

Think Borini is a decent backup, I like him but I think he is the type of player that needs game consistently which is why he had such an impact at Sunderland.

His stock his high now at the moment, so wouldn't surprise me if we cashed in been honest. Especially the price been quoted is in excess of what we actually paid Roma.

Agree totally, he needs to be playing regularly. I don't see that happening at Liverpool, especially now Lambert has been signed.

He's only 23, I could see us getting an offer like that again in the future as long as he doesn't completely flop.

14million for Borini simply has to be accepted.

I'm sceptical as to whether he is in our plans anyway, i'm liking the way we now seem to play a bit of hard ball in terms of fees for potential sales.

Before, every man and his dog new if we wanted rid and all it took was a phone call and a nominal fee.

Sunderland were clearly interested in Borini permanently but giving them the impression he is part of our plans is only going to make them dig deeper and rightly so.

    Same with Assaidi

He can play on the wing as well, so he could act as back up to Sturridge, Suarez, Sterling and Coutinho. Any of them get injured and I think he's in the team. I imagine he'll be before Lambert in the pecking order anyway.

If we ended up getting close to 25 million lets say for Aspas, Assaidi and Borini, I think we would be mad not to let all 3 go. With Lambert coming in that would fill Aspas's spot. Assaidi was never going to get a look in next season.

So potentially you have the ability to get someone like a Konopylanka or someone of this type to replace Borini and have spare change to strengthen other areas.

No one has made an offer for Borini, no one has suggested that Borini is being offered for sale.

Why is every one carrying on?

Well as mike65 posted, there's absolutely nothing in the article that says someone has bid 14 million for borini.

Secondly, i'd be inclined to hold on to him at least until January because we're going to need a fairly decent sized squad to be able to rotate in the cups. Then again, if it turned out he had a suitor for 12 million and we had the chance to get remy for 12 million also i'd change my mind...

    RE: Borini.

From a Sunderland perspective, I'd be extremely surprised if we bid £14m for any player. It would go completely against recent transfer activity and recruitment policy. Unfortunately, I think the days of us spending that money on a single player are long gone. We did it for years, never pushed on, and now the focus is buying low and selling high, constantly reducing the wage bill and spending. Even though Borini is only 23, no one will ever bid much more than £14m for him in the future, even if he became a star for us.

I also don't think I'd be too impressed with the deal. For a club like us to spend £14m, IMO we need to be hitting on a 15-20 Premier League goals a season main striker or an exceptional central midfielder who can control a game, someone in the mould of what Cabaye was to Newcastle for example. While I really like Borini and everything he's about, he's neither of those. The way things with Sunderland are now (so many players out of contract and an already small squad), £14m could buy us 2 or 3 players of decent quality.

Anything over £10m and I'd be a bit 'meh' about any Borini deal. That would be my highest offer if it was up to me.

I actually think they'll do okay. Only part I'd be worried about if I was an England fan is their defence.

Nothing could be as bad as their Euro 92 squad. Keith Curle, Carlton Palmer, Andy Sinton, Tony Daley to name a few.

Not sure how you can say that. Reckon they'll make the quarter finals myself.
