My nephew reckons Dwight Gale is the best player in the world. He is quite insistent. Let's throw £30 at Palace and hope.

No doubt our lads would try lowball further than that !

He'd miss the first half of the season.

I thought they were only allowed to sign one player this transfer window and that was Luiz.

Breaking FFP so quickly after getting punished really shows they don't care.

No, if their punishment is similar to City's , they have to have a net spend less than €60m

So they can sign whoever they like as long as there are outgoing transfers to match and the wage-bill is restricted to 2013/14 levels

Does anyone know with Brendan signing his new contract has he gotten total control over transfers now?

Is the transfer committee still in place now or have FSG decided with the new contract Brendan knows what he is doing.

I would think Brendan is coming from a strong position to be able to gain more control of the incoming players in his new contract.

Right I was just thinking of a spend of €60m and that included wages.

Main hope for the window this year is that we are wise enough not to blow money on flash in the pan players that have a good world cup. You always see big money deals on players who perform well for a handful of international matches in the WC. Post WC transfer window is always full of fools gold.

Eg Salif Diao and that spitting bstard mate of his.

The 2013/14 stats are misleading though. you could have that stat for good proportion of the squad considering how we played last season.

Shouldn't detract from his performances though...he was outstanding

SportingWitness says Martinez off of Bayern is not a ludicrous possibility.

Lallana and Martinez as the only two signings of the summer, would people be happy?

We signed both of them in the World Cup for reasonable prices going on their performances for Senegal in the 2002 World Cup.

    Swings and roundabouts.

Another 12 months in his contract.

But Harry and QPR are back so maybe, just maybe...

We should have sent him back instead of Sakho when his loan was finished...complete with Andre Marriners certificate of authenticity.

No....but that would depend on the outgoings. As well as improving the quality of our starting 11 we need to improve the squad if we are to compete in the Champions League. 2 ins wouldnt cut it.

Harry is supposedly signing Ferdinanad and Lampard aswell, how the hell does the owner sanction such short sighted deals for the club??
