Bid for Alderweireld? He is not happy not playing and him and Vertonghen were a great partnership.

I admit - I don't know the first thing about Emre Can, but it's annoying the minute we're linked with him, all the other worms seem to come out of the woodwork.

    Swoon.

Looks a bit like a young Ron Pearlman.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Was at the Calderón for the game after we signed maxi and they had a big banner thanking him, always liked Atlético since then, gutted for them tonight. All teams can aspire to that work ethic, alot of similarities there

What Atletico have shown is that when you gave a group of players committed to each other and the manager, you can achieve big things.

If Liverpool can replicate the sort of intensity of Atletico next season, who's to say what can be achieved. Looking forward to next season all ready.

People often look at games and say, if I played for XYZ I'd work my arse off, it seems like those players do that

If Atleticos back 6 could be welded to Liverpools front 5 that team would win everything! :D

What would you expect from a holding midfielder?

Not that it really matters, but I am pretty sure that was after Bale's goal, not at the final whistle. Much man love for him still though.

Bad news Sunday for the Pool.

Liverpool to spend 40 million on Lallana and Clyne. Also they are to lose their best youth coaches to City. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/380493/EXCLUSIVE-Liverpool-plot-40m-double-swoop-for-Southampton-stars-Lallana-and-Clyne

Lol just read the 'other stories' at the end of the page to get an insight into the droll journalism you're reading.

All this Xabi love reminded me of our 'Best Midfield in the World' song and it got me wondering...

If you could have the best defence, best midfield or best attackers in the world in your team, which of the three would you prefer to have? This is assuming that the 'best' isn't subjective, and we don't need to start naming / comparing actual players, just looking at defence / midfield / attack as three distinct units.

I'd be tempted to go with Defence (Offence wins games, Defence wins Championships and all that) but then I used to be a goalie so I could be biased.

    What do you all think?

    J.
