50 million for Shaw and Moreno is crazy IMO

And at least two more starters would be needed

Why on earth would you buy both? :D

Its hard to argue against that, in the cold light of day, really. 50m on Shaw and Lallana.

While I don't think its Carroll and Downing level of insanity, its still a little nuts.

Hey just a quick question on Fan card and membership for match tickets.

Do Fan card holders get any preference when buying match tickets or is it only on membership?

I could have sworn when I held a fancard I had preference to get tickets that people without fancards didnt have but from reading the website today it seems that fan card holders only get the same rights as non card holders in it being the 21 days general sale type thing.

Have I got that right? For next season I will need to sign up with membership and possibly two (if I want two tickets side by side)?

What are the benefits of a fan card holder so?

Thought you more or less had to have a fan card to get a ticket

I have a fancard as well, they are almost meaningless now, the membership makes money so that's been made more important now

Lucas linked with Inter Milan...10M is the figure.

Would he be replaced with a pure DM or a more complete CM...don't think Rodgers likes DM's to be honest...

I think he'd be replaced by someone a bit more mobile if anything. one thing that we lacked without Henderson was pace in midfield, someone who could drive forward when needed but had energy to chase down opposition when we were without the ball.

I'm not sure he has the mobility to play in the new role given to him and he doesn't have the range of passing to play in the "QB" role.

Be sad to see Lucas go, but if his time at Anfield is up it's up.

10m would be a decent price as he currently is if we can use it wisely. Not spunking £50m on players not fit to wipe andy's boots.

Lucas was a great servant to the club and performed his limited role well, but at this stage I think we've outgrown him in terms of talent and the style we play now.

You'd have to feel for Lucas a bit. He was bought as box to box CM, changed to a DM, suffers a nasty injury and is now in limbo as to what position he should play in.

I think his passing is OK, he's just not very good when he's facing his own goal and he doesn't really find space well.

Would be nice to get a Fernandino or someone of that ilk...

At the end of the day depending on preference, you could have Southampton 4:3 Sevilla or Sevilla 4:3 Southampton ratio for those 7 positions. It is tight and not enough IMO to count as a hindrance when compared to Shaw, sure I could throw in Moreno plays in an inferior league to the mix against poorer opposition if I wanted.

Those stats you have there have Shaw ahead on almost everything, key passes per game almost double which I had presumed.

I'd be looking to buy him between 15-19m, anything more and you could go elsewhere. Shaw is worth around 25m IMO but because of the interest he'll end up costing whoever buys him 30 or more.

Liverpool need two fullbacks, a centre back, a DM and an attacking player IMO. You'd think sales will be fairly negligible unless Suarez is sold, Agger is 30 this year isn't he? 60 million for 4 starters and a good quality attacking player for rotation sounds unlikely, Rodgers would have to take 1 or 2 risks and hope they pay of but his transfer record has really been more miss than hit so far.

I'd honestly have Carrico, Rakitic, Bacca and Gameiro from the Sevilla side and that's it. Lallana could be play RW/LW if needed too, to be fair to him and watching play, he certainly drifts a lot more whether starting out from out wide or centrally. Rakatic is more conventional in that he'll play centrally for the vast majority of the game.

I had Fazio as RCB in my head last night mistakingly, so comparing him to Fonte was incorrect on the balance of fairness. Lovern is an improvement on Fazio. Fonte or Pareja is a coin flip.

With regards to M'Bia, he's been playing the holding role for 4-5 months (half a season up to now) and that's not enough to go on to opt for him over Schneiderlin who as I said, is one of the more underrated players around Europe let alone in England I dare say.

You also have to factor in the coaches. Always liked Emery, but his team's are about attack first, defend second. Poch sets up his teams to be solid and organised, but when in possession of the ball, they play expansive football.

That's the thing, the DM role has evolved over the last 2 seasons if anything. Now a DM needs power and pace along with the defensive attributes that Lucas no doubt has. Problem is Lucas doesn't have the athleticsim of a Toure or Fernandinho.

Now if we get Lallana ...it might be useful to keep Lucas and see how he plays in a mid 3 with Lallana and Henderson. Let them do the running and Lucas keep things ticking over

Didn't Rodgers say in a pre-interview with LFC TV (I'm guessing) before the Rovers game the other day that a young DM was what he wanted, amongst other positions being strengthened? Fairly sure I read that on Twitter at the time.

    Yes he did.

If so he's most likely going to look at a cut price deal. How would Sergi Darder from Malaga fit in? I know he's inexperienced but has held his own in his first season in the first team.

    Edit** I like brevity's idea better :D

If Martinez was available I would consider him a priority target. Can play DM, CM and cover CB.

Would be perfect for us, our style of play and if Rodgers ever needs to go to three at the back hed slot in.

If I could ask for one other signing for midfield, I would love Barkley in the team. He would excel imo but Everton will never sell him to us. :(

I don't think I'm emotionally capable of dealing with Javi Martinez rumours for a full summer.

    I agree...

It will be very sad to see him go, especially with his friendship with Coutinho and Suarez - he would be a fantastic squad player but just don't think he would want that at this stage of his career....

Plus with all the hype around him this season and factor in some good WC performances if does move anywhere it would be for silly money

Martinez & Lallana for £55M and Konoplyanka for £15m that's the summer budget gone but midfield and attack sorted.

£10M form sale of Lucas and maybe another £15/20m from the sale of other players.

Mats Hummels and a LB from monies from sales.

See this is buying players is p1ss easy:pac::p

Saying that I was listening to the Times podcast where they were talking about the Costa transfer to Chelsea it seems both clubs and agents have all agreed to the transfer the only one who doesn't seem to want it is Costa himself.

Transfer funny season will be good this year and just think about when a average footballer does something during the World Cup and everyone will want him to join their club.

Crazy months ahead roll on midnight August 31st.

Liverpool are in talks with Chelsea for Hazard.....

    Thorgan Hazard that is :D

Maybe its the croissants, maybe its the baguettes but I'm not hugely excited about this transfer window.

We have the nucleus of a quite a good team. We have a number of promising younger players. There seems to be a togetherness and spirit amongst this group. Sure 2 or 3 quality signings in the right positions but I don't believe we need to cast aside players such as Lucas, Agger, Enrique or Skrtel. These players can still offer a lot in my opinion.

I think a lot of the mistakes of the season just gone can be rectified by slight tactical changes. Finding a better balance between attack and defence.

I worry that too many changes could have a negative effect on the team.

We have one viable sub. Regardless of selling the guys mentioned above we need to add players.
