If Ibe is going on loan again we should hope that Derby get promoted - that would be a team he could flourish in playing on the left side of a 4-3-3

He played LW first half yesterday, and CAM in the 2nd. Was surprisingly much better as the CAM. But I'd agree with you with regards to Derby.

Yeah that was interesting and backs up what Rodgers was saying about buying flexible players, he did well albeit against a LOI side. I actually think Ibe in 2014/15 is going to be one of the bigger decisions the manager will have to make - obviously a loan where plays plenty of games will do him good, but like Sterling it might just turn out that NOT loaning him could be best for Liverpool. I suppose the pre-season will help in that regard, I'm sure getting games against Manchester City, Milan, Olympiacos, etc will reveal more about his readiness.

I think given his age, keeping him closer and letting him train with the high-quality first teamers is the right move. If in a few months it's clear that he's progressing but needs games, then a short loan would work better. We have some of the best coaches and facilities out there, it would be a shame to deny him those.

As you said, Sterling learned on the job, even dropped back to U21 briefly, but keeping him close definately worked.

Having said that, I think Sterling is a twice-in-a-decade player for us, like McManaman, Owen, Fowler, Stevie and Carra. Not suggesting Ibe is certain to follow the same route.

Wouldn't be sad to see Lucas go.
    Offers nowt.

Wouldn't like to see Agger go though.
If Toure goes we'll need 3 decent centre halves.

If Toure stays we'll still need 3 decent centre halves :P

Garay. He was very good last night, and has beenm consistantly good for a few seaosns now. At 27, he's ready to go straight in alongside Sakho to create a very strong, quick and mean defense...

Interesting enough, Garay was regularly linked with us during Rafa's first few seasons when he was playing for Racing Santandar. Likewise his fellow countrymen, the Milito brothers when they were at Real Zaragoga.

I'm genuinely deluded enough to think Liverpool could have a conveyor belt of talent which will deliver half a dozen first team squad players over the next 2/3 years. :p

Teixeira, Smith, Ibe, Wisdom, Dunn and McLaughlin closely followed by the next wave - Wilson, Rossiter, Kent, Canos, Chirivella

Thought Aspas outshone Borini yesterday actually, Borini looked really short of pace

Borini kept sunderland from relegation and was in two long cup runs. Aspas barely kicked a ball for us.

I see the rumours about Alberto Moreno are gathering pace :)

a couple of years older the Shaw but on the next level, and still a very high ceiling imo.

Do it Ian, just do it!

I used to drive past that place when doing deliveries in Limerick - you'd see some rum types hanging around that part of town.

The only definite out of those players is Ibe.McLaughlin has stalled tis season & probably won't make it.

I think McLaughlin was just the victim of a loan that didn't work/injury, I'd be confident that he'll pick up the thread if given the chance.

    For me -

Smith.......maybe, has pace and strength and a great shot, but needs defensive chops
Ibe...........yes, only he can derail that
Wisdom....maybe not at our level, but will be a solid Prem player
Dunn........no, missing that x factor to be a top striker
McLaughlin......maybe, needs to be tactically better
Wilson...yes, has pace, finishing and great control
Rossiter.....the next Stevie, or more like Xabi actually!
    Kent...maybe, very early yet
Canos.....hasn't shown enough yet, needs a run at U21
Chirivella.....maybe, needs more than some underage games here and there

    and

Brannagan - needs to put on a few stone, but has the vision and feet to step up
Lloyd Jones - potential great for us, a huge kid and already a lot of U21 games under his belt. Needs to go on tour with us.
    Trickett-Smith - As with Brannagan
Jodran Williams - recent step up to U21, looks the part already, very composed, can play either CB or RB

He's friendly with Ami James who in turn is friendly with Ross Nagle.

True, but I mean that they normally try to put a bit of a cheeky twist on something. This is just blunt stupidity. Would be surprised if this was them tbh, especially since they're never shy about putting a PP logo on their stunts.

I'm doubting it was Paddy Power either, when they stuck that statue of Moyes outside Anfiled that jinxed us they had their logo all over it. If that plane does turn out to be their stunt I'll be closing my account but my guess is it was some homegrown Utd fans.

What about Lussey? Granted I haven't watched much of the U21s this year but I thought this lad was fairly talented with good eye for a pass

No way that was Paddy Power....seeing as they are an official partner to the club.

    Utd's betting partner is bwin

He's a funny one - doesn't really stand out in any specific way, so could be a steady-eddy type, but I find it hard to believe he'd rise above someone like Rossiter (great all-round, reads the game great, excellent tackler), or a specialist like Teix or Chiravella.

    I thought bwin we're Liverpool's too?

The betting stands inside Anfield on matchday are run by bwin

Edit: You are right - http://www.liverpoolfc.com/corporate/partners

Strange how bwin operate the betting in the stadium and not PP

Fans will always overstate how good their youth teams are. Realistically, out of the current batch, we'll be doing well to have 2-3 of those lads make it as first team footballers with us.

For me, Rossiter is the star. You have to remember that he's about the same age as Chirivella, Canos, Kent, Wilson. While those lads have only started dipping their toes into the U21 level, Rossiter is the best player on the pitch at that level and knocking on the door of the first team.

Ibe would be the next likely player to break through. He's already gotten first team experience with us, he has the same kind of raw talent as Sterling that is incredibly effective in the Premier League. The real question about Ibe is whether he has the movement, positioning and ability to pass the ball that Sterling started showing. We'll hopefully find that out next season.

Despite what everyone here says, I can't see Teixeira making it. He's 21 now and while he's done pretty well for the reserves and had that nice cameo in the league, I would still have been expecting him to push on.
