Hi I have just finished my first year in NUIG I am receiving BTEA and will have to switch my claim to JSA I was thinking of staying in Galway and switching social welfare offices from Navan my current office to Galway I will be studying in Galway for the next 2 to 3 years, can anyone give me advice. Is it tricky to switch offices, what is the office in Galway city like? Will I need to bring anything with me? Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

Call into the Navan office and inform them what's happening, when you move to Galway you will probably have to provide evidence of your new address ect.
Transferring your claim could take a couple of weeks depending on how busy the office's are.

You need to call into the office in Galway and ask for your claim to be transferred from Navan. Bring in photo id with you and also proof of address..e.g. a tenancy agreement or utility bill in your name.

Thanks for you help guys. Im actually living with my uncle down here so I have no proof of address here in Galway. Could I get my uncle to write a letter saying im living with him and a utility bill with his name on it as proof of address?

That would be perfect. Make sure he gives a recent utility bill.
