Drove past a speed van that was being set up.

I was over the limit by maybe 10km/h in a 100km/h zone and noticed a speed camera van on the side of the road. Now, if it was functioning I'm sure I was caught, but this van had the back door open with the camera clearly visible and a man walking around the back of it moving some planks and stuff to set the van up. I'm wondering if you can get caught by a van that's in the process of being set up. Would it have been already operational before the guy finished moving a few things and got into the van?

*Just realised I spelt "van" as "can" in the title. This is my first time on here so in not sure how to edit this.

Sure it was a camera van? They don't carry planks of wood. Either way if it wasn't set up your grand, I wouldn't worry about it. Watch the speed in future etc.

They set up a little podium and you step up onto it to receive the points.

It definitely was. It was painted in the usual colours and you could see the built in camera completely with the right door open. I'm not exactly sure what the guy was moving around, but he was putting some plank or something odd into the back of the van.

    Don't mention it.

The OP will have to do what the rest of us do; Wait and see if something comes through the letterbox in the next couple of weeks.

If you were doing 110 kmph (according to your speedo) in a 100 zone, then you were probably only doing slightly over 100 kmph in reality due to the fact that most speedos read over by up to 10% or so. They do vary in the amount that they over read but chances are you were barely over the limit so even if the camera was live, it probably showed no interest in you.

    That's the theory anyway!
