Hi, I'm looking at participating in duathlons ....but i need advice on the type of bike, brand and best store to go to. I'm 35 , 6 ft 3" , 14.5 stone and a good level of fitness (mostly running). i had a racer bike back 17 years ago but i want to get back into cycling. Budget level €500 - €800 ish. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Location: North Kildare.

For that price anything new from a shop would be rubbish next to what you could pick up 2nd hand off the likes of DoneDeal.ie. it's the first place I'd be looking anyway.

If you are eligible for bike to work then tht would stretch you up to the €1000+ range with would get you a muh better bike.

If you are not eligible then I too would possibly recommend second hand or there was also a thread on here about Spyder bikes you might get something from them in the right price range.

do you want to get into biking in general or just duathlons? a standard road bike might be a better bet than a tri specific bike
