    Hey guys,

Just trying to find out about what different vaccinations you give, and when? Alot of conflicting information from different drug companies online. :(

And also whether you vaccinate calves/ weanlings, or is it just that the pregnant cow is given a special vaccine?

Any info on worming would also be appreciated?

    Thanks a mill.

    We vaccinate nothing!!

Fluke and worm 4-5 weeks from turnout. And again later in summer as needed.
Going to give an All Trace bolus this summer from Mayo Healthcare.

Give all calves covexin 10, covers blackleg and loads more. Foolish not to do it.

Tribovax T here to all calves + strategic dosing during the summer, and small 6gram Cu bolus. Would like to try worm egg counts instead of blanket dosing. If I use all ivermectin doses on calves I can run into difficulties in 2nd yr because they have no natural resistance. I try swop around white dose, levamisole and ivermectin on a 3 yr cycle, but cheap ivomec and convenience is putting me off drenching with white dose:o

Have used bvd vaccine on all cows the last few yrs, think it's cheap insurance for another year, cows also get copper bolus, fluke dose at housing and trace sure bolus before calving. No scour vaccine or lepto used.

Only other thing to add is calves only get the second tag when they have 2nd blackleg shot and are dehorned. I also notch heifer calves that are to be kept for breeding.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
