Anyone have any idea the best way to install USB ports in a car. My car is a E46 323 and I'd like to have some ports to charge my phone. I want them to only power on when the car is running Iv looked online but there doesn't seem to be all that much about doing it or what I exactly need.

Easiest solution is get an adapter that runs off the cig lighter

Thanks for the suggestion :) I'd rather not do it that way I want to have it wired from the coin tray in the arm rest and in the cig tray in the rear as that's not being used for anything. I found a DIY on E46 fanatics so I'll have a look at that.

    Cheers.

These seem like a good job. I have one but haven't fitted it yet. You just need to find a 12v + wire that comes on with the car. Probably best tapping the cig lighter. I enquired about fuses etc here and it seems like none are needed. just connect the 2 wires and make it look pretty

Cig lighter on the e46 is a constant live feed, strangely enough.
