    Hi,

I'm looking to buy my first car. Looking for something small, either 1.1 or 1.3, for cheaper insurance and tax. Have a full licence.

What's the best car of that size for that money? I was looking at either Clio's or Peugeot 206's, but on the bangernomics thread someone linked a small fiesta too.

    Cheers

Clio and 206 of that vintage tend to be someone else's rubbish. Fiestas of that vintage are great little cars but they tend to be plagued by rust these days.

Toyota Starlet if you can find a clean unmolested one. They are pretty old now but they tend to be indestructible. Another one would be a late 1990s Toyota Corolla, same engine as the Starlet but the rest of the car is a bit more modern.

A corolla would be your best bet at that money or maybe a Mazda 323 if you could find a rust free example.
