    Anyone getting this on Friday,

so far €59.99 in Gamestop, price will drop hopefully on Friday.

€39.99 in Smyths. No more loyalty card so price is as stands.

No price as of yet for Argos, Tesco or HMV/Xtravision.

€40 on the eshop with a free code for Mario Golf for Gameboy Colour

There will be lots of micro transactions, levels, clubs, balls, outfits and characters, could be expensive but the demo was awesome.

I'll be grabbing in the eshop. It's the kind of game that you can dip in and out of for a long time, so having it permanently installed makes more sense to me.

Post your friend code when you do get it, might be an idea to set up a league if enough of us get it here.

    Should be getting this tomorrow.

I always like to have physical copies of the games but free copy of Mario Golf for GBC is nice (though I already have a physical copy of GBC and GBA golf). hmmmmm.

Do they have the season pass up yet? (12 or 15 squids for all the DLC plus the Gold Mario?) Just played a couple of rounds on the demo, it's good fun, reminds me of something I used to play on PC (Pangya?) a loooong time ago. How do you get the big coin / star on the Peach course? Can't seem to hit it with a ball.... Also can't seem to get those damned Bullet Bills...

I assume it all goes up at midnight. Not sure about your questions, I only played the first few demo courses.

Gonna try the demo tonight and I might get it over the weekend

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Out now. €39.99 for the game, €11.99 for the three-pack season pass, €5.99 for Mushroom Pack on it's own.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,283 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

€44.99 in Gamestop, €45.99 in Argos, €39.99 in Smyths.

I am going with Smyths, a hard copy beats out that gameboy colour code for me everytime.

Played a few hours and really like it. Will find and post my 3DS friend code later.

This game is so absorbing! It's really fun. I've only ever played wii golf before so I think it's even fun for people who don't like golf that much.

I'm still trying to figure out how to unlock the 9-hole courses. It says to collect coins, but how many!?!

I'm going to download the season pass after work tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,283 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

Much harder than the demo, I need some practice first would be interested in a vs match this time tomorrow I think.

Cool. Post your 3DS friend code.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,283 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

Gold Mario and the Peach Pink course are a dangerous mix if you have a history of seizures, too bright and shiny for my taste even with the 3D off. I am gonna sleep now and will post my friend code when I wake up, damn everything is shining at the moment.

where did you enter the code?

Select Mario Golf instead of Castle Club, then Tournaments, Private Tournament and Search by Code. Enter the code there.

Really liking the game so far. I wish it tracked your VS record online but other than that it's v.good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Posted a disappointing -7. Started well but some disappointing putting on the last 3 and a bogie on the last hole destroyed it. Still, for my first go of the game it's not that bad.

I noticed on a few holes that despite hitting the top of the bar on my drive, there are 3 or 4 bubbles that consistently drive a good deal further than everyone else. Is there some secret ninja technique or special clubs or something?

Did you try using a power shot by pressing Y?

What are you, some sort of manual-reading sissy?

    Also, thanks.

Does the handicap mean anything, mine is 0.8 and I am still ****e.

I think in a handicap tournament it's deducted from your total to arrive at your final score

Miis can be customised with gear that gives extra distance, control etc...

I posted a -13 but it should have been much better.

    You won it easily, Brian!

I had a horrible round, but had a chip-in on the 17th to sweeten it a bit. The award ceremony was nicely done. :)

    Ceremony was cool :)

I'll create another tourney. Any ideas on format?

Was thinking of one regular 9 hole with Miis and one coin collect over 9 holes with Yoshi. Both ending Sunday night ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Damn, so near and yet so far.
Worth mentioning, if you only have occasional internet access, once you connect to the server and download tournament information, you can enter the tournaments any time you want, even when you're offline (you get a "no access point error" but you can click through it) and then upload your scores later.

Edit : Ah schnappes! Hit the pin (rolling... so it would have gone in... right?) from the tee on hole 9 of the Forest course in the World competition.

Edit 2 : It's worth checking out the expiry dates on the online competitions - if you enter the world championship one downstairs in the Castle Club you get a Gameboy themed set of clothes for finishing the 18 holes.

Right so. Boards.ie II tourney up and running.
    Code is 42-6833-8503-9394.
Finishes Sunday night. Princess Peach on Peach Gardens. 9 holes.

How or where is the fastest way to unlock new clubs and gear?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,406 ✭✭✭brianon

Not sure really. The more you play the more you unlock. Seems to be pretty constant unlocks. If you beat a character in VS under challenges you unlock their Star version.

**Managed a decent score in the boards.ie II tourny. #1 now :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Take a look at the Open competitions both in the regular play mode and castle club - completing a round usually unlocks stuff, and competing in the competitions usually unlocks a specific bonus too, so you get two-for-one. Eg. the Mario themed clothes for the Fixed Character tournament #1. There are 4 tourneys that end today (Fixed character and item coin rushes, a DLC tour and a round in the Forest) that all seemed to pay out for me. I don't know if these tourneys are the only way to get those outfits / items.

The competitor rewards you own from the get-go. The unlocks need to be bought in the shop. Which, if like me you were under time pressure to find, is on the far left of the main building of the Castle Club. I was running around for hours looking for it, kept thinking that it was the big Toad house out the back, and that until I did all the things he was asking me for he wouldn't sell me anything - 36 holes I played for that little lying swine....

BTW, if you're entering Brianon's tournament, it's NOT a coin rush. I figured that out after 3 holes and 4 strokes over par.... :D

Edit : I never took myself for an idiot, but looking that back over I can't escape the feeling that maybe that's exactly what I am :D

Lol. Was a good round. That par 3 7th(?) wrecked my head a few times. Overshot the green into the water a fee times before I got it right.
Tough 9 holes with regular Peach. She doesn't hit the ball very far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,406 ✭✭✭brianon

Just checked the results from the first official tournaments. Wow. I made about 60/70k in coins :D

I like how the tournament results show your friends placings.

**add me if you haven't already. Post your codes.

Been playing a bit of this. Finished 20th in the Near Pin online tournament :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

I kind of fell out of this - there was a big push on Marvel Puzzle Quest :) - but the grind of trying to enter all the online competitions was getting me down - I found I'm just firing off shots to get the hole finished as quickly as possible, get my placing and free gear and move on, then collect all my coins at the end of the week. I haven't even looked at playing any offline mode yet!

The DLC underwater course is a real pain in the arse.
