Self-employed: doing work in the UK

    Hi,

I'm self-employed and it is possible that I may have to go to the UK to do some work for a month or so. I'm just curious as to what impact this would have for taxation purposes.

When issuing an invoice to the company I will be doing work for, should it be ex-VAT or should VAT be included? As I'm carrying out work in the UK, do I then have to account to the HRMC in the UK? How do I go about that?

    Thanks

Complicated area. When does a business trip turn into residency? Ask your accountant for advice.

Self-employed is ambiguous, a lot depends on whether you are a director or a sole trader.

Thanks srsly. Yep, I'll speak to my accountant if it becomes more than a hypothetical. At this stage I'm just teasing out whether it's even worth properly exploring it.

Apologies, I'm a sole trader in the legal profession.
