Not sure what this noise is...

This noise has been happening for ages on and off up stairs in the hot press.
The only way I can seem to stop it is to lower the thermostat, downstairs.

Now, it started up again last night late, I could hear it from the bedroom and now it`s still going, randomly, now, I can hear it from downstairs.,
We don`t change the thermostat, (only when this noise starts to stop it), usually it`s around 17/18 degrees and that noise does`nt usually come on, but for some reason it did last night.

I`ve had a plumber into have a look at it and he had`nt a clue, it almost did`nt make the noise while he was there, but he could`nt figure it out, he commented that I should look into and exorcist.

I took a little video of it, hopefully ya`s can help me out.

What is it, is this a job for an electrician, why is it doing it so randomly and should I be worried?

    Cheers lads for any help!

Motorized valve needs replacing (the white box)
    Have your plumber out.

+1 on this. There is no safety risk. It will just stop working one day.

    Time to replace it.

I have a video of it, but I can`t seem to post it.

How in the hell the plumber I got to look at it, did`nt know what it was...

Will this be a big/long job to sort out, how much roughly are they?

Cheers man, one last question, is this noise due to just wear and tear, old age...

More or less. Also if you have a lot of stuff piled around it the motor can over heat.

I have council installed gas for three years, and this started with the noise almost immediately, I have three of those and all three have been replaced twice and the newest one are just two months old and are making savage noise.

It's normally the motor (which if it's been done DIY can be had for €10-15) but easier to chance the entire head (actuator)

You plumber couldn't understand where the noise was coming from? You better get a new plumber while your at it!
