Yup, entry sorted. First Half. Glad i picked a nice easy one with no hills on the bike and a flat rewarding run.

Bit pissed that I missed this. How did you know it was opening? Their site still says "watch this site", I looked about a week ago..

I asked them via twitter back in Feb and set alert in Calendar for reminder then.
Not worth waiting or taking chances hoping you spot it, if it's an important race then make it your business to know entry dates and be free for them.
Just a necessary action with big races in Ireland selling out very fast.

Also they posted it to Facebook, Twitter and the TI site had the info.

All is not lost at least you have the second round so set reminder and you should be fine if on the button. Think it was about 20 mins this morning. Likely same or even less for round 2 I'd say.

was going to be tough this year especially with the two NS races being two of the more popular races on the calendar anyway, but some of the races this year have been going unbelievably fast.

happy enough to have slots in my two top picks for the year, HotW and LS, but that's the easy part done.

Out of curiosity, what was the entry fee for Kenmare?

you'd have gotten a couple of two euro coins back from two fifty euro notes. :D

    96 euros.

Slipped up myself and thought 9 would be time enough to book the entry - and decided to do a massive swim before work rather than sit by my keyboard ;)

Bloody wife wants to get a relay together for her and a few of the family so it will be an expensive race for me. No doubt a few small dips in the water over on the holidays will be the extent of her training and she might still beat me

    Assuming they are doing relays

What's the price for this tomorrow and does anyone know if they take relay entries also. Triathlon Ireland or cork tri don't give much away on either of their websites

In - despite the endless loop of the TI website telling me my e-mail address was already registered and promptly terminating the process each time:mad:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,830 ✭✭✭catweazle

That's wasn't easy - site as slow as sh1t for me, TI don't have the bandwidth for busy races. Wife not too impressed I went in after to book a relay for her but I can't seem to access race entry anymore - comes up as already applied

Not to worry saves me a fortune anyways!

Anyone know if you can transfer entries on this. I cant do that weekend now and emailed them to see if you could transfer but had no response.

Also - if the answer is yes does anyone want to buy it off me for face value.

There's usually no problem transferring entries fior this race. I've bought transfers twice in previous years (not able to do it this year).

Well done on another podium at the weekend btw. You're flying at the minute.

Training for this one at the moment. long spins going well, as is the climbing (on the bike).

With the climbs, what are peoples general thoughts/ intentions regarding the bike section (TT or Road bike)

    Thanks

The climbs are minor. Its the descents that would influence my choice of bikes

IMO It is a course for a TT bike without question regardless of descending ability

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,557 ✭✭✭bryangiggsy

First time doing this race. I heard the run is brutal. Can anyone compare the run to any other races in ireland ? Kilkee , boe, blacksod .. Albeit twice the distance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 103 ✭✭j0hn1

Most of the run last year wasn't too bad other than the swim and bike that came before it :-)
The hill in the final third was tough alright, just take it easy going up that and you'll be fine. There's a long stretch alternating flat / draggy after the top, but then its downhill to the finish. Save some legs to run the downhill.
The mistake I made last year was attacking the hill too fast (trying to keep up with someone else) and then blowing up near the end of the uphill.
