No Sonia Silver in Sydney on that list? No Heffernan? No Sonia World Cross Country double?

Not one that would be appreciated by the masses but Sonia's European 3000m record (which lasted for 8 years) of 8:21.64 has to rank as one of, if not, the greatest performance by an Irish athlete.

A title like 10 Great Irish performances might have been a bit more appropriate. Doubt someone spent months researching this one. ;) It's a good watch all the same. Some great videos I hadn't seen before. Dervla probably still doesn't believe she won that gold.

Agreed that Sonia's silver medal performance has got to be up there. Certainly the most memorable athletics performance if my lifetime. Her 3k performance is something specially too. Time wise has got to be almost the strongest performance by any Irish athlete ever.

Pity they made a balls of Delany's surname!

A quick look at the Irish 3k all-time list shows SOS is nowhere to be seen.

Two lists are necessary: male and female.

Catherina McKiernan's Marathon if an Irish women went anywhere near that now it would be amazing. 10-12 mins better than anyone at the moment.

Well she was handy winning London and all :)

Would expect Fionnuala Britton to run 2:25+ if she moves up.

Yep she has the best hope, would love to see her push the national record but I dont think that will happen. 2:25 sounds about right but you never know.

In terms of visual spectacles, Delaney's race is just incredible. What an amazing feat. O' Sullivan's kick is also such a great pleasure to watch. We need to be reminded sometimes, just how incredibly good she was.

Delaney's is hard to top. Coghlan's WC win in Helsinki is probably the most memorable, albeit for his disrespecting his opponent.

Sonia's WC win in 1995 for me was the race that truly cemented her as the best. It was her destiny to win that.
