Starz has given a 20-episode order to the series “Blunt Talk,” which will be executive produced by “Family Guy” boss Seth MacFarlane, with “X-Men's” Patrick Stewart starring.
The series hails from Media Rights Capital, with MacFarlane's Fuzzy Door Productions also executive producing. Jonathan Ames (“Bored to Death”) is also serving as executive producer, as well as writer and showrunner.
In “Blunt Talk,” Stewart will play Walter Blunt, a British import intent on conquering the world of American cable news. Through the platform of his nightly interview show, Blunt is on a mission to impart his wisdom and guidance on how Americans should live, think and behave. Besieged by network bosses, a dysfunctional news staff, numerous ex-wives and children of all ages, Blunt's only support is the alcoholic manservant he transplanted from the U.K. to join him in Los Angeles.
“In the character of Walter Blunt, Seth, Jonathan and Patrick have found the alchemy that makes a borderline alcoholic, mad-genius-Brit the man you want fighting in America's corner,” Starz CEO Chris Albrecht said. “Seth and Jonathan have struck the right balance between biting wit and outright absurdity in building this world, and we cannot wait for Patrick to breathe life into Walter.”

Could be awesome or awful, but the premise sounds woefully boring.

At the very least I hope there are jokes at Piers Morgan's expense.

Saw this announcement earlier... The fact that it's Patrick Stewart has me sold anyway... I'd watch him watch paint dry, so I would...

Patrick Stewart is awesome as Blunt.

    Really enjoyed the two episodes.

It takes a while getting used to Captain Picard as a degenerate idiot but it seems to work. Hopefully they have enough story ideas in the tank to get two seasons out of it (season two was commissioned before shooting started on the first).

Oh my god what a load of horrible crap.

We turned it off before it was even over.

Haven't seen the second episode but the first was good. It's a hard one to call, I wasn't sure if what I was seeing was utter trash or comic gold, but ultimately I think it just works....so far. Will see where it goes. Viewing figures for the first episode were very poor.

I hope this dies on the vine before it destroys any more people's cherished memories of Jean Luc Picard. Absolutely terrible show altogether that seems think the shock value of seeing the noble Jean Luc Picard doing crazy **** is a substitute for good writing and actual funny jokes.

I'd agree it's a bit jarring to see him like that but to be fair, it's not like its the first time he's played this kind of character; Bullock in American Dad wouldn't be far off it and while that is a cartoon the character does still look like him.

I am really enjoying it, its just silly funny rather then laugh out loud funny.
The servant is nuts and the actor plays the role very well.

Stewart is very funny too, but i feel hes not given it his all just yet.
And anything with Richard Lewis in it gets my vote too

I'm watching this now, and the airport bathroom scene in episode 2 was absolutely hilarious. Haven't laughed like that in a long time.

I got bored of it half way through the first season, it was just far too hit and miss for my liking, but that one scene in the airport was priceless - shows how much potential the show had to be killer if handled a little better.
