New bike choice.

    Hey guys,

After warping my back wheel and going through my third axle, I've decided it's time for a new bike. (Probably more a new riding style, eh?)

Currently I have a rigid Giant Boulder mtb with Schwalbe. City Jet tyres on her. Did me fine, nice for around the city.

A friend is going to Canada and is selling his 6 month old Careers Subway. He gave it to me yesterday to try out and I mostly like it. Love the disc brakes and pretty tasty gears (Even though they are only Alivios). Only thing is, she's fast but accelerating is more difficult than the current bike even though this one is a bit lighter. Probably the wider tyres?

I think I can get it for 200 from him, would it be worth it? I am willing to pay more for a bike but for the specs, this to me seems to be good.

Or change your mechanic. I'm a big chap, I ride aggressively I have a number of back wheels with more warping than Jean-Luc Picard and have only broken an axle once. You sure they are breaking?
Either way changing bike isn't going to remedy such a problem.

If you predominantly ride on the roads then I suggest you get a road bike and keep your current bike for any off road riding you do.
