    How is the start order decided - random out of a hat?

    Do Astana go last as Nibali won for them last year

    Speaking of Astana, with Nibali not riding, who will be the team leader?

    Scarponi is leading Astana for the Giro. Not sure how start order is decided, whether it's seeded or random.

    A) Team Time Trial - Belfast - Belfast (stage 1)

    The start order of the team time trial stage will be determined by drawing lots on Thursday May 8, 2014 during the briefing of the Giro Management with the Commissaires’ Panel and the Sport Directors. If among the Giro’s starting riders the Maglia Rosa holder from the last edition is present, his Team will take the start last and the rider himself will wear the Maglia Rosa.

    Riders shall set off at identical intervals of 5 minutes one from the other.
