So right I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place so I'm sorry in advance

I'm going to college in September and last year I took a year out. I had a job from September 2013 till January 2014 but I got fired. It was minimum wage and I only got 2-3 hours a week. I'm so sared now that when it comes to applying for the grant this year I'm going to be refused because I had a part time job and I won't be able to provide any evidence cuz there's no way I can go back to my boss and ask for any paperwork or anything

My mums a single parent on job seekers so I should get the special rate of grant but I'm really scared that this job is going to affect it. Has anyone got any advice? Please and thank you!

The job shouldnt effect your grant i was working 13hrs a week after i initially got the grant and was reassessed the following year with this work taken into account. The rate I got did not change atall.
I dont think you would qualify for BTEA tho but should be fine for the grant

You need to go to revenue and request you taxation info for the year. I think it is called a p21 form. It won't be a problem unless you weren't registered for tax, if so I would go about reporting your employer ASAP so you can get your paperwork in order.

See I don't know if I am registered because I filled in a form for the p21 but then she fired me like straight after I handed it in so I don't know whether she sent it to whoever she was supposed to send it to.... What would happen if you wern't registered? :/

Nothing at all for you, if your employer led you to believe that all the paperwork was in order and it wasn't they could be fined heavily. For you the worst case scenario is you could be liable to pay the universal social charge on your income.

Thanks :) But if she didn't have all the paperwork in order and I applied to revenue or wherever for the form would it just not come up?

If you apply to revenue for the forms and you have not been registered you will just get a response saying you have never worked you can't apply for this form. Which can be a massive problem for you, because you could have put on your grant application that you have worked but then not have any paperwork to prove it. Ideally, morally, legally, you need to get all your paperwork in order but they could just insist you haven't worked which could be quite difficult to get them to change their records on that.

Apply for your tax info for the year 2013 and see what comes back, if nothing does you know it's never been recorded that you have worked and just go from there.

What if I applied for the p21 before I apply for the grant? Could that work? :)

    I edited my post above.
