Ive noticed in my time around here there a large percentage of people looking to pick small things from a post.
They dont care about the main gist of it they can find even a word used offensive.
Examples would be mentioning pretty much anything in the soccer forum somebody will argue about it.
If you advise somebody to learn theory in the musician section itll pffend some people.
Say anything in here about mental illness and somebody will get offended even if what you are saying is positive somebody will come out with something like
"no wonder mental illness is such a taboo in this country with that attitude" and people will thank it.
They sell kennels in most hardware shops and pet shops but if your dog sleeps in one the pet section will go into overload.

Then ofcourse you have the palestinian and Israel supporters taking offence at anything not pro-them.

So do you come here to argue? If so why? What do you get from the faux outrage?

Wow, thats a bit rude to assume that people just want a row.

People have different opinions and will often clash, doesn't mean they're out for a row.

Reddit Ireland thinks shares the same views on this place that you do.
    I agree with them too.

    No, not really.

I come here for discussion and debate!

Yeah it can be annoying. I asked for help on my car and got plenty of abuse right from the start because of it's make. I suppose all we can do is learn to not take those kinds of posts to heart, pity the maker, and don't respond to them, and minimize emotions when making posts. Easier said than done...

Are you insinuating something about us other posters?

But cant they accept some people have different views to them. To actually get outraged because one person feels different about something than you do is strange if you ask me.
Maybe they arnt educated on the topic maybe they are more than you maybe what they are saying isnt really all that offensive and in real life it would go unnoticed. But here you can be labelled a monster for being normal or having a view that somebody elsedecides to fein outrage for.
Its starting to happen with twitter too, thre seems growing number of people trying to accuse people of being racist. Like when there was a furore last year a football commentator said something like "there should be more coloured coaches in football".
They tried accuse him of racism because the term coloured was suddenly offensive even though he was largely making a positive point about the lack of options for a black coach looking for work.
Why do people do it? They wanted him to lose his job.

Once certain posters get involved in a thread, you can pretty much forget it. "Intellectual checkmate," trying to out-word each other. Instead of actually posting a good argument, just be convoluted and do your absolute best to frustrate the other person, then you win. These days I actively avoid threads that some users get involved in, because watching it climb to 500 pages of two people back-and-forthing, not contributing so much as just trying to wear the other person down. It gets frustrating and can ruin perfectly good conversations.

EDIT: As an addendum, because of your post about the commentator, the social justice warriors in AH are enough to make me want to just disagree with them on purpose just to watch them get pissed off.

The funny thing is there is more than one person here just waiting for something to get offended about. Sitting kind of in the shadows waiting.

Laughed out loud, when somebody on Reddit wrote this:

"They should change their slogan from "Now ye're talking" to "Shut the **** up that's too controversial".

Better if you can get other posters to fight it out, saves you typing. Maybe just a touch of petrol on the flames every now and then...

I genuinely do post here to argue/discuss/debate (delete as appropriate)

But this behavior here really annoys me

Its really easy to thanks whore and become a 'right on' poster by doing this but it makes for sh*t read, its the same for posters that would be very sensitive of the rules in other cases but insist on engaging with blatant trolls, it results in interesting threads being poisoned or locked all the time where as ignoring them or reporting them would actually mean that the threads could continue
