    So,

I have been going to RIAT for the last number of years and this year, I fancy a change. Is there anyone going to Farnborough and, if so have you any tips regarding airport to use and accommodation??

    Thanks in advance

    P

Last time I went I stayed with my sister in London and got the train down followed by a special bus. With the transport infrastructure you don't have to stay local. Incidentally if you can get your hands on a trade ticket, going during the week is much better to see things without the crowds getting in the way. Of course you miss out the special features of the public show. But you can go to the public days too and get the full benefit.

Any of the London airports will do assuming you will be staying in London. Might as well take in a weekend in London while you're at it :).

There are thousands of possible suggestions for staying in London but the Farnborough train runs from Waterloo and there is a Travelodge a couple of hundred yards from that station. (London Central -Waterloo on the website). http://www.travelodge.co.uk/

When you get to Farnborough there is a fleet of buses waiting to take you to the field. The reverse coming back.

Train length of travel times vary - you can check here:

If you find a cheaper hotel to stay at in London the Tube will get you to Waterloo from anywhere (provided they're not on strike).

£46 for the Airshow isn't too bad....its the getting there and the overnight stay that will cost you.

Might look into popping over for either the Sat or Sunday 1st flight to London on Sat, train to Waterloo then FAB, with stay on Sat night could be doable.(Wife and kids away on holiday that week....;) )

So, tickets bought, flights booked, car hired and hotel near Gatwick booked. Looking forward to it now. I've always gone to RIAT, so something different shall be nice.
Farnborough on the Saturday and Duxford on the Sunday.
