    Hi all,

I will be applying for jobseekers benefit soon & I understand the benefit is 188 per week but am unsure if I would get child dependent allowance.

I have 2 kids, husband self employed with salary over 50k. Would we be allowed it?

    thanks

Also can I transfer all my tax credits to my husband while I am on jobseekers?

I have applied to over 90 jobs so far and only had a few interviews )-; I think it would be better if I got onto a Fas course and upskilled....do you have to be on jobseekers for a certain period before you can apply for courses?

    thanks all.

Have you just lost your job or are you about to lose your job? Your not going to get child dependent anyway.

I will be out of contract. So I won't be entitled to child dependent's? Thought I saw it was 29.60?

    Thanks

Its 29.80 but you won't get that because that part is means tested and your husband earns too much.
Do you have enough PRSI to qualify for Job seekers Benefit?

Get on to Fas, or whatever its called as soon as you apply for JSB, ask them what courses are starting soon, some will have long waiting lists but some wont and its not always teh one you think that are in demand. There is no point in putting your name down for something that you wont get before your 9 months JSB expire.

Jobseekers benefit if taxable so you need to factor that into any transfer of tax credits you do to your husband, as otherwise you could end up owing 40 odd percent of what you get at the end of the year.
