You might like to try http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html this handy little utility can list all usb devices and usb hubs. By right clicking on a particular entry you can disable, remove or reinstall drivers among other options.

There is detailed information on the website. There are two versions one for 32 bit and the other for 64 bit systems.
The download links are at the bottom of the page just above the last table

Did this just happen recently ? Is this laptop formerly a company asset ? An Administrator can stop USB flash drives from installing on a system to prevent staff from infecting it or from unauthorised theft of data. If it is then we can help you sort this.

If not then start in safemode and in Device Manager uninstall all the USB section and restart in normal mode, this should sort it.

What version of windows do you have? If it's "windows N" - the one without media player (to satisy eu anti-trust ruling) - then you need to install the missing stuff. This caught me out before as I didn't realise any of this stuff had anything to do with flash drives!

Don't bother - waste of time. Just answer the question in previous post, and follow instructions if relevant. I had this exact same problem recently, and I wasted hours and hours looking for drivers etc.
