KIA 7 Year warranty - is it worth to pay more for a used car?

    Hi,

KIA used cars are holding their value better than some other manufactures due to the warranty period of 7 or 12 years. They are great cars but my question is if it's worth to pay that extra money, specially on a 2008, 2009 used car when the warranty seems to cover what it really matters for a shorter period of time?

Below are the terms and conditions for the 7 year period in Ireland. Cars prior to 2010 are also covered by the 7 year period. Similar conditions apply.

KIA MOTORS IRELAND TERMS & CONDITIONS:
The Kia 7 year/ 150,000km warranty is effective on all vehicles registered from 1st January 2010.

The 7 year warranty is a full manufacturer’s warranty. The exact terms and conditions vary slightly between models* and some items have a natural limited lifetime/ durability and are therefore covered for less than 7 years, but as a minimum:

Paintwork is covered for 5 years.
Audio is covered for 3 years.
Batteries are covered for 2 years.
Normal ‘wear and tear’ on items such as brake linings and clutch linings, etc. are excluded from cover.
The warranty is transferable to subsequent owners and is valid across Europe

The warranty isn't limited to the a categories listed though. Engine, gearbox, injectors, turbo etc are covered for 7 years.
A manufacturer warranty will cover more than a used car warranty.
