I have two sets of silver campag brake callipers that are surplus to my needs.

One set is record and one is a set of daytona callipers. Both in very good condition with plenty of life left on the original pads.

Looking for 80 for the record set and 45 for the daytonas.

Daytonas are from 2002 and record are c2005 so may be too new for you.

I have 2 sets of shifters 10sp but in need of repair.
Veloce Silver. The right hand shifter needs a rebuild and a very easy to repalce spring has popped off the left hand side.

Another set of Veloce Black ultrashift 10sp. Right hand is fine but the left hand has a broken cable guide.

Probably of no use to ya but they are here anyway.

@ paul a newman - can you post a pic and price? thanks.

@letape, I suspect they may be too new for me. Thanks anyway.

    @bcmf, downtube shifters ftw!! :)

@krissovo - what sort of money are you talking for the brakes?

ouch. new veloce are 33 quid on wiggle, but I like those particular ones. Would you take 30 inc postage (paypal, and subject to pictures etc) to Dublin?

    Methinks Lenny's going retro ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,460 ✭✭✭lennymc

@bcmf - no thanks. I have nice brake levers. :P

@ Robfowl - retro all the way!! :)

excuse the quality of the pic

Campag croce d'aune fr & rr derailleurs, BB, campag super record headset, campag victory brake calipers, campag chorus levers, aero seatpost, cinelli giro d'italia bars, cinelli xa stem (but I think I will need to replace that as its too short). Im not sure what the shifters are, but they look OK and work OK so will do me until I find the right set.

They are simplex retro friction gear shifters. I have a set on an old build.

These are the best period gear shifters you can get back wouldn't replace them with anything else.

If you are not sorted for brakes yet I have a set of Campag calipers and levers gathering dust in the attic for many years now which I can dig out. From memory I think the calipers are this type but it has been so long since I last set eyes on them that my memory is hazy. One thing I'm not hazy on is that they definitely fall under that definition of "speed attenuators" rather than brakes, as such, though that might be as much to do with the brake pads as anything else.

Anyway, if you are interested I'll try to dig them out of the attic tomorrow evening and put up some pictures. I've no idea yet of value, I'll have to check their condition first.

Here you go, pictures of very dubious quality I'm afraid. About the best quality picture (though that's not saying much) is the stupidly gratuitous snap of the Campag logo on the brake lever band.

I don't know which models these are, the calipers might be Chorus but I could be wrong, even less sure about the levers. All in excellent condition and perfect working order. I bought them new in the very early 90's from what I can remember, but I removed them from the bike before long as the strong springs and lever shape never really suited my dainty (yet manly!) hands. The rear brake pads are fairly worn (no visible grooves, but lots of pad left though) while the front pads have still have the grooves remaining in them.

I'm really not sure what value to put on these. If you are interested, what about 60euro for the lot?

The callipers are 1991 chorus - not as sure about the levers.

If Lenny isn't interested in the brake set I would be. I'm putting together an old build myself.
