Did anyone else go to the Spring Classic yesterday?

Worst show I was ever at, so badly run.
The lighting was TERRIBLE! It didn't do justice for any of the competitors who worked so hard.

They got people's music wrong a few times, the crowd just lost interest after the first hour. Standard was decent(ish)
But it was just a really bad show overall

Heard the stage was awesome but the lights sucked.

Competitors were supposed to have looked way better off stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Lenn Brennan

They did actually, they need to start pre judging it's way too long of a day, 12 hours!

NABBA shows are far superior, you can do the full day if you want or just the evening show.

It must have been so frustrating for competitors after dieting for 16-20 weeks, to be let down by something as basic as lighting

I don't remember the last time I heard of a good RIBBF show... shame really with the amount of effort these guys and girls put into getting ready for the shows to be consistently screwed over by poor organisation, poor judging, in fighting and bullsh*t politics

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Lenn Brennan

Yeah nail on the head, the money they make at those shows too and they present it like that.

Can't wait for the NABBA nationals now.
I hear the worlds are sold out

Can't wait for NABBA too. Do not go to ribbf anymore, no point, already know whos going to win. I know one girl, she cnacelled her competing after she heard who was going to win this year, and that person won...hehe good 1

Yeah the first timers and juniors results were a joke yesterday, theres always controversial results.

That Bullman aul lad is a disaster on the mic too, apparently he won't let anyone help with the organising.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Lenn Brennan

Yeah Mark looked brilliant, that was bull. There was another guy Eduardo, a monster for a junior, in great shape and condition, I had him to win that class

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 372 ✭✭kult

I had mark or Eduardo myself, but we have to agree that competitors do not win , but contacts, judges and relatives...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Lenn Brennan

Totally agree! I'm hoping to compete next year and there is not a chance it will be an RIBBF show!

Bluntforce bodybuilding have a few up. Irish muscle had a status saying they'd be up tonight.

I'd say they'll be brutal shots, the lighting was atrocious

cool thanks, long old wait then :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Lenn Brennan

Yeah it will but it's always a great show, Paul Byrne knows what he is at

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 253 ✭✭saucers82

    who guest posed on saturday?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Lenn Brennan

William Bonac IFBB pro, we missed it though, we'd been there for nearly ten hours and there was still a few hours to go, our friends who were competing earlier were wrecked and needed to go home

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 253 ✭✭saucers82

yeah i was going to head down but when i heard there was no set time for the evening show, i said forget it lol

was there many female competitors? any bodybuilders or all figure?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Lenn Brennan

They don't do pre judging or an evening show, it's all done over the whole day, every competitor does an individual routine even if there is 30 in a class, then there is the call backs, then they call the next class then the next class, then they call the first class back for the final 6 and results, it's ridiculous,

Yes there was about 5 female classes, they do that by bringing the girls out one at a time to various music and let them do their routine then call backs and results.

They need to start pre judging

Sorry and yes there was female physique but there were only 3 competitors

yeah its dying out unfortunately :(
don't think the look is popular

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Lenn Brennan

It's all bikini and fitness now

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 253 ✭✭saucers82

yeah, Ms Olympia bodybuilding could be gone soon i think - that was on the bucket list ah well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Lenn Brennan

    Don't give up on it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Lenn Brennan

Yeah unfortunately it's the likes of this crap that goes on all the time, she had that won before she even started dieting

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,390 ✭✭✭Stench Blossoms

In fairness to the girl, she has been putting in the work/effort. Not sure if she was 1st place material but she has been quite dedicated.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 372 ✭✭kult

Work and effort, I saw most of them training, it's a laugh not training, make up, long nails etc. Work and efford is Coleman, Dorian, Lee Priest etc, they train and can be called work and effort...not talking in the gym about make up and have 40 min sessions... give me a break

No need to be mean to them. They put in the effort and look better than most that go to the gym! I don't know if she deserved to get first though. There was another girl who came second in Nabba last year who I think was in the same category as her this year who looked better imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Lenn Brennan

I train with a body fitness girl and she works HARD, tough as nails, but yeah bikini is a joke, how do they even judge it???

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 253 ✭✭saucers82

she looks well but yeah i don't get bikini category either
    not enough muscle

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 372 ✭✭kult

Yep, she must put in a lot of effort to gain such a flat big ass , omg, people wake the hell pu with that effort tales... it is a shame nothing else... and she won it too haha

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,390 ✭✭✭Stench Blossoms

    Who's that in the pic?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,694 ✭✭✭✭Alf Veedersane

Lads, you've made your point about the RIBBF.

I don't think the sneering at individuals is necessary.

The winner hahahahaha look at irishmuscle.ie you will find out yourself...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 372 ✭✭kult

It just makes me lol when I heard or read "they put a lot of effort into ..." haha lol. I saw one girl, who trained in some gym in town, she bled from her nose when doing heavy deadlifts and never stopped. That was an effort, no make up, no nails or talk in the gym at all. I think she won Miss Ireland 2010, then saw her once in Nabba 2012, but I am not too sure. But when I see those dolls training and then they say they train hard 40minutes talk in the gym then ...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,390 ✭✭✭Stench Blossoms

I think we get it kult. No need to keep going on about it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 372 ✭✭kult

I believe and I am sure we all get it however I read that someone said they put hard work and effort into that so they can present flat huge ass on stage, so maybe we don't all get it just yet. I hope that one of the "stars" will read it too and come down from the skies to the ground and start realizing that they pull irish bb down to the dogs with shapes they represent. Also with the RIBBF... it is a shame that's all. I am disgusted with organisation and competitiors ( not all of them ).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,785 ✭✭✭ferike1

Look, they still go to the gym and still diet. More than 90% of the population. You don't need to be so vicious in your attacks, it just makes you come across bitter.

That's not bikini that's body fitness, That's Silvia, I can tell you right now that girl trains hard

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 372 ✭✭kult

Yep, I saw her training man. Her ass can tell you she does a lot of diet and legs work.... Sorry but if she did train hard she would have looked a lot better. That's my opinion. + if it a body fitness then it is even worse for her, body fitness, asking where is it on the stage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,783 ✭✭✭RidleyRider

Kult will you drop it, like seriously. Regardless if what you say, they still burst there balls to get into shape for those shows, whether you agree with it or not, that's subjective but going on and on about some girls ass 'not knowing dieting' is just being an ass.

You don't know how hard each and everyone one of them trained and dieted, you're just speculating.

We all agreed that the RIBBF is a joke and people who won shouldn't have BUT you can't take away the hard work and prep they put themselves, their familes etc... through.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 372 ✭✭kult

Ok, I will drop it, but do not tell that they train hard diet etc because if they did they would look different on the stage and that lady S who won it, did not represent hard work and diet and you must agree with that. I would not go on stage in that shape. I actually know how "hard and dieting they did" I have been doing it for 15 years and trained with some pros too...That is the reason why I have this kind of opinion, training hard and dieting gives results, always. No magic , you know yourself, all hard work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Lenn Brennan

Europeans in a few weeks too, should be interesting

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 372 ✭✭kult

Hopefully!!!!:) I can't wait for NABBA this year, it is always nice and worth taking day off from work and paying for the ticket:)

Yeah that's all well and good, you're great!

Just because someone doesn't look awesome doesn't mean they didn't put in hard work. Things could have gone wrong in prep, they might have missed some macros, days training etc.. They're human beings, they have day jobs, families. Things can't always go 100% right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Lenn Brennan

Yeah can't wait for NABBA nationals, friend of mine competing in Novice, he's gonna be in serious nick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,589 ✭✭✭JJayoo

I think Tallafornia girl looks cracking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 501 ✭✭✭DL Saint

The lighting at this show was a sick joke, really poor sports-hall "natural" lighting, the competitors looked better backstage. You can't objectively judge someones physique solely on the stage pics from this years Spring Classic...

Can't wait for Nabba too. Paul Byrne really knows how to run a show. He should host a proper Nabba Spring show, or even Summer show in Dublin. It'd be very popular I'd imagine.
