Hi just enquiring about what's the best way about colour coding the outside trims of the car, like the front & back bumper, the door handles, mirrors, trim piece along the door. The trim is black but the car is blue. What's the best stuff to get to put on so it doesn't fade or peel after due time. Just want it all to be the one colour.

Also there's a small bit of surface rust, now its nothing major but would like to treat that aswel with again any stuff or methods to treat it. Any experienced or worthy knowledge would be appreciated.

If it's only the trim and handles get some primer, colour coded paint, very fine wet/dry sand paper (for etching purposes) lacquer. All the paint can be got in spray cans. Take your time at it build up the layers of paint and put a couple of coats of lacquer on and bobs your uncle.

Iv done it to a few of my cars if the paint was fading on the trim. A good prep job is important after that just take your time applying the paint.

Can you tell me a step by step on how to go about it please just so I get the correct finish for peace of mind?

And in relation to the bumpers, am I better of taking off the bumpers or would I be able to leave them but get something like masking tape to prevent paint going on the rest of the paint work?

Are you spraying the whole bumper? Or is it the trim on the bumper? If it's the whole bumper then that's when I'd bring it to a body shop if it's just the trim then,

Take the trim off, I'm under the assumption the trim is in good nick? If so etch with the wet/dry sander paper make sure it's really fine as your only wanting an etched surface for the paint to stick properly, Prime allow to dry, Apply main paint allow to dry you will want a few layers of the main paint, Lacquer, again apply the lacquer a couple of times.

It's seems a daunting thing to do but if you do good prep work and take your time you shouldn't have any problems. If your too unsure about doing it have a look on YouTube there would be plenty if videos about painting trim on a car.

Oh and any paint you get make sure it's an exact match for your car otherwise it will stand out like a sore thumb.
