If you were to design your own watch, what features would you include?

Each watch I've owned has its own particular merit, but none have everything I want! So, if you could take a bit from one watch and add it to another what would it be?
I would take the timex indiglo function (pressing on the crown to illuminate the face) and add it to an automatic.
I would have tritium tubes on the hour, minute, second hand, 12 O'clock in red.(maraton navigator)
It would be automatic hackable (sieko monster)
It would be large (48mm) with a decent heft. I'd like to be able to use it as a weapon :pac:
It would need an alarm.(bellmatic, don't have but want)
It would need a date magnification bubble.
It would be metal not resin, strap too
It would be from the 40s

This stems from HDMIs post about lowball offers on his ball(I get it :))watch, which for me is a thing of beauty, but is a bit too small on the wrist for me.

However I think we all know i wouldn't be satisfied with said watch,
my name is Skill and I'm totally addicted to watches :p

I think this thread needs to be picture based rather than lists.
Is this an ultimate tool watch you are thinking of? Obviously we will still want to have a number of watches rather than one that fits all bills.

Its more like if this watch existed I would have no need for another. (yep I know thats not gonna happen). It seems each watch has its merits but also its shortcomings. So get all the good bits and bodge them together.
For example I like the marathon navigator for its tritium display, but the watch feels cheap on the wrist.
The seiko monster, I like but there is no ticking sound and the date is hard for me to see.
Sony smartwatch : needs constant charging and again feels cheap.
G-shock - grand as a beater, but not dressey? enough

Hmmm hard one. For a tool watch...

Large but not monstrous. 42mm tops
Black dial, white indices and hands.
Movement: option between high accuracy quartz built oldstylee like a mechanical(rolex oysterquartz kinda thing). Teflon bearings rather than jewels. Much better in a quartz. Or a handwind with large balance and shockproofing on all the jewels. Both hacking of course. One cool feature of the only Omega I own(early quartz) is that you can advance the hour hand separately, while the seconds/minutes remain unaffected. Good for timezone changes.
Lume. Tritium all the way on minutes, hours and seconds. Option of fluorescent orange minute hand with orange lume.
Rotating bezel with solid click(and trit lume). Options for either a timezone printing or "divers"(with one way rotation in the latter)
    Option of date/no date.
Case: highest quality stainless steel, with PVD option to make it black.
Waterproofing would follow the Vostok Amphibia design. Far more tolerant of servicing and more longlasting. 200 meters tested.
Crystal would be best quality acrylic. Sapphire and such is lovely, but much more expensive and can't be cleaned nearly as easily as acrylic.
    Solid lugs, or screwed lugs.
All parts should be modular and easily replaced.

If there was to be a chronograph option, I'd leave it at just two subdials. Trit lume in them too. If mechanical it would have to be a column wheel. Far nicer in operation. Also a vertical clutch mechanism would be a given.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Your prayers are answered SM... :D

Marathon GSAR. That thing beats up Rolex Submariners when bored and headbutts G-Shocks for sport. :D

Haha, I'd still be praying for a date magnifier! And I've had my eye on one for ages, cant't justify €600 at the mo.but give it time :)

What about sword hands with tritium and super lume?
Super lume wears off (as does tritium, just a different timescale :) )
