I'm looking for a job in IT or related sector. If I get 20k, 25k, 30k or 35k annual wages then what will be the tax based on given amount? I'm a foreign graduate student and will need to do a green card too, so don't know the details.

This is without a pension or any other deductions, so probably more of a guideline:

Gross pay - Take home pay
    20k - 17.7k
    25k - 21.2k
    30k - 24.6k
    35k - 27.7k

Simoon- as you require a greencard- your best bet is not to look at entry level positions- but to focus on a very narrow talent and sell yourself on that basis. For example- we have issued almost 100 greencards year to date for Java programmers- this is just an example.

I'd seriously suggest ignoring the entry level positions that a salary of 20k+ implies- and upskill yourself to fit an area with a shortage of expertise.
