Does anyone know where I can buy a Dahon folding bike (using the cycle to work scheme) in Ireland?? I know Eurocycles does, but I'm a bit hesitant reading about their poor customer service.. I'm just interested in a bike that I can have around to take on the train to work, some leisurely cycle around our area or to the shop or pack up in the car during out of town trips. My other option is the Giant Halfway in Cyclesuperstore but I'm not really getting any feedback about it as much as the Dahon Vitesse. Would appreciate the help! Thanks.

I'd just walk into Eurocycles, tell them you want to try a Dahon, then ride it around the carpark. If you like the bike and agree to the price, hand over youre money and ride away into the sunset. As you know you want a Dahon you don't need to listen to "sales patter",so customer service isn't a issue. Lots of people dislike olearyair, but still fly with them because they will fly them to their destination for a price they like, customer service means nothing!

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. I wonder if they assemble the Dahon themselves or they come already built.. don't want to buy something incompetently assembled by someone.

My last two bikes were built by eurocycles, I haven't had any problems with them whatsoever. And they're top notch for prices too.
Customer service is grand, nothing exceptional but nothing abysmal either.
Call into the long mile road shop and ask for cliff, he's great.

I dropped my Dahon into cliff for its first service since purchasing. he was in the South William St shop. Top bloke.
I bought the dahon from Eurocycles in Drogheda though as I intended to buy a Raleigh folding bike, but upon inspection they're crap. Dahon by comparison are solid and well designed.

Thanks guys. Would the South William st branch have the Dahons or it's all mainly in Longmile Road?

They had dahons in there last time I was there but for more choice I'd go to one of their bigger stores.

If I were you and using bike to work scheme, I would go all the way and get a Brompton. Yes they are expensive but they are so much better than the Dahons. I had a Vitesse and it started falling apart after a few months.

What did you get in the end.

Brompton are at least twice the price. Anyone stock them here?

Cycleways in Parnell Street are dealer but Cycle Surgery in Dundrum can supply them from stock in UK quite quickly (inside two weeks last year).
