Decent internet in Howth?

    Goooood afternoon all.

Right so basically I live in a part in Howth where I get 250kb/s download speed PEAK. The odd thing is, I don't live in the lighthouse on my own or on a boat, it's actually a big estate situated beside other bigger estates. What I don't get though, is why there isn't any decent lines running into our estate? I've rang up Eircom and UPC and they both don't have any plans of getting better lines or fibre optic lines put in anytime soon. My uncle however who is about 500metres away from my house (still in Howth) gets up to 20mb/s no problem.

My question is, does anyone know ANY way of getting decent broadband put in? Are there any alternatives? I've looked at satellite broadband but its cap of 50GB monthly download isn't nearly enough.

Can anyone help an oul' desperate lad? Can't even watch HD porn, it's just not on lads.

Nearly all of howth is covered by eFibre. Only one cab is left to be done(it was delayed).

    See here:

If you're near that cab you just need to wait a few months. If you arent then you should really be able to get it, unless you're direct fed to sutton.

Typical that that's the one closest to me  So you reckon in a few months it'll be done? Does that mean we get fibre optic? Thanks for the answer btw, helps a lot!

Yep, if you're within 500m of it you should get at least 70Mb. Maybe even 100Mb ;)

It might be a month or two with planning permission and council work orders, but once its done you could be connected within a week.
