Question for any lifters out there...

Are any of ye doing yoga? If so what type?

I've been doing shadow yoga for a while and given my shocking flexibility/mobility:pac: :( I'm wondering if other types would be easier better suited to lifters...

I've done the hot yoga. Not sure how different it is to Bikram but it's not called Bikram...

Anyway, you can only go as far as you're able to with any mobility work but I found it very good for improving my hip mobility but other aspects of my ability would have been ok.

But like I said, you can only go as far as you're able to initially but after a while, your mobility and flexibility will improve anyway.

AFAIK Bikram is very like hot yoga anyway. Not sure if I could handle the heat though!

Yeah, they're quite similar but I think Bikram has prescribed poses whereas the hot yoga is more vinyasa-based and flowing.

The heat is fine. It's the sweaty feet that take adjusting to :)

I've done bikram yoga, hot yoga and ashtanga.

Yoga complements weight training very well as one causes you to contract muscles and the other stretches the bejaysis out of them

I seriously regret not keeping up yoga when I started lifting a couple of years back! Did a bit of vinyasa flow and was alright at it IIRC! :)

I've been doing bikram for about 3 years and only for it I wouldn't be lifting much.

Played a lot of rugby and competed in kickboxing for years and as a result have had a lot of injuries\surgery. Both knees and one shoulder were effectively written off by surgeons for further sports\lifting and right now my movement is very good and my lifts are nearly back to where the once were except from my bench it’s still a work in progress.

I just wish I had invested more time in yoga while competing.
On a side note I think the bikram is hotter that the hot yoga.
