new UPC box

    Hello,
    Our old grey UPC was giving problems, the UPC man called and gave us a replacement box that has a HDMI out.
    I now seem to have access to HD RTE's TG4 BBC's, it tells me i need to subscribe for Sky's

    My question, am i being charged extra for any of this?? I was never told, and never asked for HD anything.
    Also how do i know is a show on a HD channel is actually in HD?

    If you have a HD box you can get certain HD channels for free.

    RTE 1 HD, RTE 2 HD, TG4 HD, UTV HD, BBC 1 HD and BBC 2 HD all come free with a HD compatible box as UPC aren't allowed to charge extra for HD versions of these channels.

    For the rest of them they can and do. €5 per month is the fee for most apart from Sky Sports 1 & 2 HD I think which is extra again.

    Don't expect to be told about the free HD channels by a member of staff. I asked the girl (I was pretty sure they were) and she had to check with a colleague/manager as she had no idea.
