FB automatically playing videos

FB has evidently decided that I want to see ALL videos posted by my friends, so they now play automatically once I open or refresh it.

    I do not.

A lot of my friends post stupid videos, which I have zero interest in.

Anyone know if this annoying feature can be disabled?

And while I'm at it, does the video playing use up my data allowance if I'm not on wifi?

    TIA!!

I'd also like to know how to stop this. Someone posted an animal abuse video the other day which just automatically started playing. Just what I needed to see!

You can change this in your settings, you have to do it seperately on your computer and on your mobile device but you can turn auto play off.

Yes it will use up your data allowance. It is very annoying. Id say its a bug, I really doubt they would be stupid enough to do something like this on purpose. And since everything that my friends click like on now appears on my news feed (who thought that was a good idea?????) its even more annoying because theres all these random videos of idiots that all play as soon as I log in.

They only play when you're on wifi(or thats what they say) and with the volume off.
It's a little annoying but you don't have to watch it, just keep scrolling.

They plan to do this with adverts also

Did you not read just a few posts above this?

Somebody already posted the link to the exact place that you turn them off. . .

Well they were playing just now, and I'm tethered to my phone, not on wifi.... which is what got me wondering.

And to an earlier poster, I did see something ages ago about it - but didn't realise the implications of it at the time. So it was a deliberate action on the part of FB. A very annoying one!

Yeah, get rid of your friends.

But... but.... but...... they're my FRIENDS!!!

    It's only their videos I don't like.......

Luckily there's a solution to annoying ads already. Was wondering about data allowances myself, although I get 2000GB so good luck to it taking a bite into that

Your phone acts as a wifi router, so if you're connected that way, then tech yes you are on wifi.

if your phone is physically plugged into your computer and you're getting internet that way then I'm unsure of what type of connection it reads as.

I was wondering how long it'd take for this sort of a post to appear :D

I can hardly remember back to 4th year (assuming you're talking about secondary school), never mind whom I might have shifted. Try again!

What's this solution to annoying ads that I don't know about?

And where on earth do you come by 2000GB of data???

Ad blocker. Can get it for android from their website as google dont allow apps that "interfere" with others. Not sure about iPhone/Pad.

3 give unlimited data but on their website it says 2kGB.
