Has anyone else heard of this?
Been trying to track down the plans but the sodding finglas website is a maze.

Apparently there is to be a new entrace for traffic approaching the centre from the N3, heard it will be where the pedestrian lights are beside the goods inwards entrance off the Blachardstown road south.

That way in bound traffic won't have to go up to the round about and stop start into the center from there.

Have found the architects proposal website.

    http://www.wejchert.ie/project_information.php?projectId=24&parentId=3

Proposal is to turn the existing yellow car park into a shopping mall with under ground parking and create entrance off the Blanchardstown road R121
where the pedestrian lights currently are.

I ended up Googling on this recently enough as well, there are some higher-res artists impressions in this PDF magazine: http://photos.myhome.ie/media/3/0/0/293003/BlanchardstownYellowMallYMag.pdf

That magazine is from 2007. Are the plans still the same?

Who knows. It's hard enough to find any real information about the entire thing as it is, so unless something new pops up, may as well assume that that's the plan.

Looking at that list of shops - do they really need more shoes, Handbags and coffee shops?

There are plenty of them at the Red Mall end and throughout?

More stores needed for the lads - a Forbidden Planet or similar would go down well, maybe something to replace the lost Sony Peats and Gadget shops... a better link up to the outer wings of the center would be nice too.

This is a non-story. Proposal made 7 years ago, now dead.

No need for another vehicle entrance without new retail buildings.

    all good except for

    1. the loss of car park space in white - been years since you could never get a space in yellow - white always had spaces.

    2. "Revised Signal Controlled Crossroads incorporating Pedestrian Crossings to replace existing roundabout"

Why so much hate in the locality of the roundabouts all of a sudden? - traffic light junctions only cause delays and long tailbacks - especially in busy places like this.

The only reason people hate roundabouts being removed is there is then no constant opportunity to risk a crash to get a car ahead. With lights you wait till its your turn to go.

I live more or less beside the new layout at Mulhuddart and i think its great.
There where some teething problems and the two lanes into one system being abused by people yet again wanting to be one car further isnt great.

I'm all for removing that roundabout, since they changed the markings on it that left was for the left lane only and you have to get into the right lane to go right or straight, I've seen so many near misses caused by people in the wrong lanes.

The roundabout is not big enough for the volume of traffic on it, and the sets of pedestrian lights so close mean that cars get stopped on it, or some fly through them even when they are red. Hopefully it will mean easier access to the center and less grid lock around it.
