Detergent such to detergent drawer

    Hi all

I've just bought my first place and have inherited a washing machine with it. The machine itself *seems*to be OK so far, but needs a good ole clean ! I've removed the detergent drawer and given it a good scrub with vinegar and baking soda. However, one compartment I am unable to get clean. It's the main detergent compartment and it has "stuff" really caked into it. I've tried bleach, vinegar and soda, wire wool etc. But nothing works .... From looking/feeling it, it seems to be really embedded into it ... almost as if it were burnt into it (although there's no signs that the drawer ever started to melt !)

Anybody have any suggestions on how I can get this removed?

Remove the drawer and try soaking it for an hour in 'OUST' limescaler, can be bought in Tesco for around €2 for a 3-pack (use all 3 for this)
May not work for this 'stuff' but there is a good chance. Can you not just scrape away as much as you can anyway. Is the detergent being prevented from washing out of the drawer during the wash.?
You can also order a new drawer from ESPARES.
This is the swivel/rotary drawer and comes in either 2 or 3 parts. Each part can be bought separately.

Yea, all my previous attempts (bleach, and vinegar & breadsoda)were with it soaking overnight but I'll give the limescale remover a go, thanks for the tip. Doesn't seem to be preventing the machine from working properly, just would like to get it cleaned up if I can
