Aer Lingus Mobile Check in Query

I was trying out Aer Lingus' mobile app and for some reason it won't let me check in for a multi-city route in Europe ORK-CDG outwards.

Does anyone know is it only usable 30 hours before departure or can you do advanced check in with it?

I just thought I'd give it a try for the sake of being techie :)

It can sometimes be a bit funny with multi-city routes, depending on how the tickets were booked - eg I flew ORK-LHR-SFO on Virgin late last year and it wouldn't let me check in with my Virgin ref, but I found right at the bottom of my ticket confirmation email an Aer Lingus reference which lo and behold would! But in answer to your question, it only worked for me after the 30 hour mark.

Another piece of info for you - checking in on the app emails you a link to a website which contains your actual boarding pass. Take a screenshot of the pass - saves on your roaming data bill! Also, scanning the mobile boarding pass works great at ORK at security and at the gate, and great at the gates at LHR... but is a royal pain in the you-know-what at security at LHR T1!

I'll only be flying inwards to CDG so, only ORK checkin to deal with.

BRU is fine too. I'd be iffy about presenting anything confusing to CDG or LHR security staff though!

Aer Lingus' app is a bit disappointing, thankfully they are revamping the whole app and including an iPad/Android version and brand new website.

Did I hear someone mention the booking system will be redone to allow more manage your booking options for flights ticketed by another airline?

Download the EI App from the play store.. It's self explanatory as in it will take you through the check in process. You can also select seats and add bags etc. when you check in they will txt the boarding card to your phone or email address whichever you choose. I always take a screen capture of the actual pass. When you go through the airport you scan the barcode on your smartphone at security instead of showing a paper pass. The last update of the app seems to have sorted out all of the bugs, prior to that it was a real piece of ****. Best one I've used is the SAS app which is very user friendly. Just remember to have your phone charged enough so that it will last you to boarding.

Yep, used it at the weekend, very simple. Check in on the app and they send a text to your phone with a link to the boarding card.
