Intoxication - surely not a gender issue, or is it?

Since apparently this thread was closed earlier
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057194382

I thought we could still talk about this issue from a different angle...

If you look at the comment section below this article you will notice quite an amount of people making the idiotic behaviour of the two girls about gender...

Is it about gender though? It surely is just two drunken idiots acting the maggot. Whether they are girls or boys makes no difference. Or does it?

Do you think 'society' or people view drunk women differently than drunk men?

Just interested in an open but fair debate - no hijacking, please :)

    Extract from original article here:
The two young girls unleashed havoc in the Grafton Street store when they started ‘7up wars’ while under the influence of alcohol.

Their antics were captured and recorded by a witness. And the video has gone viral online, attracting strong criticism.

The girls appeared to slip and fall inside the shop, knocking some of the shop’s goods to the floor.

They were asked to stop throwing bottles by witnesses, and they were then removed from the shop.

I do think they are viewed differently and there is a kind of lads will be lads mentallity thats accepted with such idiotic actions like your link.

I don't feel this way myself but from conversations with co workers/friends/family this is the vibe I get.

    I think you're right... Unfortunately.

I just think it's shocking some of the comments people made underneath that article...
It goes to show that we're a far cry from equality even in Ireland to this day. Look at this one:
Don't be surprised if the 'violence against women' industry calls for the men who removed these thugs from the shop to be arrested. In their warped minds women should be allowed to behave as they like and get away with it regardless of the damage it does to other people and their property.

At least someone called whoever wrote that on their BS:
I can't believe your comment got so many upvotes. I don't know anyone who thinks women should be able to behave any way they want.

Oh, the interwebs... full of a great bunch of lads, really.
