Taking over part of farm / social welfare

Hi I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction for some info.
My partner will be taking on part of the family farm, getting his own herd number, stock etc
He is currently on job seekers allowance and we have rent allowance also.
My question is - is he entitled to keep any of his social welfare for a certain period of time while he sets up on the farm - I know there is a "back to work" kind of system when setting up a business whereby social welfare can be kept for the first year or so. Is it the same for farming? I am new to all of this so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I dont know about keeping the dole but there is a farm assist that he might get . I suppose you would be aswell going into the social welfare office and explaining the case to them and they should be able to tell you for sure what you can do .

every possibility your partner will still be allowed keep his social welfare but it wount be job seeker because he wount be in theory available to work

so farm assist or probably a form of job seeker (the one that is means tested)

Check out the "Rural Social Scheme", it might suit well.

Is that a different scheme than the farm assist ? I never heard of it but it sounds interesting

I just saw on reeling in the years there that there was 18000 farmers claiming the farmers dole in 1976 . I wonder how many are getting assistance now ?

What if a farmer on farm assist were changing his system of farming would he/she be entitled to keep farm assist for 2 years?

That would be a top up of the farm assist where you work for 20 hours/week for €20/week it would hardly pay for the petrol going to work.

Also provides a full stamp and your allowed to work above board along with the payment your receiving which cannot be said for most or any other SW payments.

Thanks all for your helpful responses. Farm assist will probably be what will happen but we will go into the social welfare office and get their advise. Thanks again
