To be filmed over Summer 2014, a new £10 million adaptation of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Starring Sean Bean in the title role, making this yet another film in which his character doesn't make it to the end. Also with Samantha Banks (Les Misérables) as his wife Portia, Mackenzie Crook (Game of Thrones) as Cassius, Tom Weston-Jones (Spooks, Copper) as Brutus, and Indira Varma as his wife Calpurnia.

It's probably my favourite of his plays, and is long overdue for a new big screen adaptation. The most recent dates back to 1970, and the most famous from 1953 with Marlon Brando, John Gielgud, Deborah Kerr and James Mason. This one could use a bit more star power, I think ...

I couldn't see Mark Antony in the cast list, so I'm also curious to see who gets that plum part.

I just had a stunt casting idea: Russell Brand as the Soothsayer:
Caesar: The ides of March are come.
Soothsayer: Aye, Caesar, but not gone.

PS a bit of trivia: Sean Bean is currently 55, the same age as Julius Caesar when he was assassinated.
