going making two 12ft wide by 13ft high doors. they will be sliding. What size steel should I use to make them.
4x2 for the frame and 2x2 for supports or would I get away with lighter?

2*2 box, the 4*2 will only make it stupidly heavy and hard to move.

id go lighter with 40mm box well braced 4by 2 would be madly excessive.

Angle iron might even do for support. You will want one anyway a couple of foot from the bottom to make a runner to stop the bottom swinging out.
    2*2 is plenty big though.

    40 x40 plenty strong enough

Like others have said 40mm box is plenty strong, don't forget to use angle on the bottom run or the middle run to use as a runner to stop the door kicking out in the bottom.
