reckon miesha will be much too good for carmouche

have to respect browne given what hes done to some

khabib nurmagomedov is an absolute monster. Hottest prospect in the ufc at the moment.

yeah, destroying him on the feet and on the ground, just a case of softening him up now for the sub, maybe even a nice head kick

Browne looks done but Werdum a little too pleased with himself here. You never know.

Good night of fights bar the womens' one.

Most impressive performance was Romero thrashing Brad Tavares around like he was nothing. Didn't gas after 3 rounds of being relentless. Good striking. Decent striking defence. His wrestling credentials speak for itself.

Def top 5 potential at the worst!

Werdum was great but will lose to Cain simply from being peppered by strikes rather than easily avoiding all of Browne's power shots tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,698 ✭✭✭Gumbi

Werdum didn't gas persei but he definitely wasn't as fast in the 4th and 5th. Got rocked once but has his JJ to save him.

I'm glad Werdum was able to show that good technique is still superior and showed Browne to be more of a brawler relying on sheer size and 1st round KO power (wild uppercuts etc). Browne gassed hard but man does he have a chin.

His decisions have all been 30-27 on all 3 judges cards.
I doubt he lost a round before getting the finish on his debut

Great card apart from the womens crapfest, who's bright idea was that ahead of..well half the card! I hope Carmouche gets cut she is awful. Werdum is class can't wait for him vs Velasquez.

It is hugely popular for some reason. There can be some good brawls in it but that's simply from horrible technique.

Don't get me wrong i was not slighting the women's division (apologies if it came across like that) i actually think it is very entertaining and some very good skills on show, it's just Tate and Carmouche are both very poor and will be irrelevant/cut before the year is out. I actually cant believe that stat you posted, whoever wanted to see that ahead of Cerrone/Barbosa is smoking some serious stuf.

I totally agree. I hate the womens' fights. Usually skip them if watching on Sky+.

Neither will be cut though as they are easily marketable (especially Tate).

That was a very good event, some good fights. Nice to see Romera finally showing off his wrestling, his trip-suplex takedowns looked vicious. Also not liking Browne it was fun to watch Werdum embarrass him, in a mean-spirited way; that kip-up was cool!

Beaming Cowboy got the knockdown and sub, great win. The worst thing about Meisha and Liz was how amatuerish they looked compared to Rousey, neither looked like a serious challenger. Hard to watch Browne Werdum, dunno what was worse Browne's gas tank or Werdum's smarminess. Can't wait for Cain to smash him.

Anyone agree with Joe saying about the 12-6 elbows being a rediculous rule. I remember watching UFC 2 and one of the guys was almost out on his hands and knees looking down when the other guy just started dropping elbows down to the back of his neck, I thought your man would die there and then. Not saying they should be illegal (onbiously to the back of the neck) but they can cause a lot of damage!

I agree with joe abour the 12-6 everytime he tells the exact same story about why they are illegal, which is every event he calls!

Every 2nd event. Get it right! Every other event is about soccer players leg kicks bla bla bla

Great win for Cerrone. Was delighted with that one. Can't wait to see him back in the thick of it heading for a shot at the belt.

I know cerrone won his last two fights but he really looked like the poorer fighter but pulled of the tko. Barboza was destroying him

Some really good fights on this card

I agree that Barboza was getting the better of him but to say he was destroying him is a bit of an exaggeration, no?

I dont think so, just cerrone has a hell of a chin

Surely Cerrone will get his name on a PPV main card soon. A very enjoyable fighter to watch.

I'd be surprised if he has already been on main cards.

Watching prelims now as I missed them on sat, but great card all round from what I've seen so far.

Hugely impressed by Werdum, always thought his striking was better than he has shown at times, but he has the complete skillset. Very savy performance, before the fight if I had to pick I would have bet on Browne.

I also thought Cerrone was in big trouble before he landed the big shot on Barboza, as Barboza seemed quicker to the punch in every exchange, great shot landed with the jab to put him down, and good awareness to take the submission and get the fight.

love this sport, complaints about card quality are all well and good, and there is a point that some cards are diluted, but I can't say there are many cards that I really find a chore to watch. There's always something interesting.

Werdum showed he is the rightful No. 1 contender with his impressive performance. He's not the fighter he was five years ago with a whole new dangerous stand up game added to his arsenal. He went into the Fedor fight an underdog, he went into the Browne fight an underdog (I still don't know how) and he'll go into the Cain fight an underdog. I think Cain should beat him but coming back from an injury might play its part aswell.

It took until the third round for Miesha Tate to become the fighter we're used to seeing. Aggressive striking to get inside and use solid wrestling. She seemed almost nervous in the first two.

Is it time we start questioning Barboza's chin? He has the leg kicking power and skill to instil fear in any fighter but in no less than three fights (Jamie Varner, Danny Castillo and now Cerrone) he showed how susceptible he is to being KO'd with less than powerful shots.

Yoel Romero needs a top level fighter next and there's no better timing than Tim Kennedy. Yoel would be one of the few at MW that could match the strength of Kennedy and Kennedy is probably looking to stomp out Cuban Communism or something ridiculous so it probably would suit him.

The fighter that impressed me the most on the night was Thiago Alves. He peppered Baczynski's legs non stop with those killer kicks of his and looked comfortable for a man two years away from the sport.

Another impressive performance was from Jorge Masvidal. He's been one of my favourite fighters for a number of years for his ability to handle the fight no matter where it takes place. I'd love to see him fight Cerrone next and push him into the top ten at LW.

I agree. America has some obsession with tate though ever since TUF made Rhonda out to be the 'bad guy' and America bought right in to it.

I've only seen Tate fight in the UFC, I think she's ****e. Carmouche, I've seen twice in the UFC now also and I think she's even worse.

Ms. America vs. Ms. Former-US Marine. Awful.
