HDD Detected in Bios not Windows

Hi again lads,My rig has been running strong for over a year now and recently i went to buy a new HDD (2TB Seagate Barracuda 7200).
After installing the HDD in the pc I went to the Bios (Asrock UEFI) And that seems to be detecting the hardware without problems but Windows doesn't want to detect the drive, there is no sign of it in disk management or the drive letters.
Im just thinking now that is might be something to do with Windows and the FAT format, anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?

You need to go into drive management and format it before it will show up,

Open Computer Management by clicking the Start button

System and Security, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Computer Management.

administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    2. In the left pane, under Storage, click Disk Management.

    3. Right-click the volume that you want to format, and then click Format.

    4. To format the volume with the default settings, in the Format dialog box, click OK, and then click OK again.

hey guys still having the same problem, sadly the above solution did not work because the drive doesnt show up in drive managment. It is detected by the BIOS and its detected in the Seagate tools. I ran a fix on the drive via seagate tools and it said "pass" but the drive still does not show up

I presume its a Sata drive? Maybe if you download the sata drivers from their website and load them in windows and see if it appears.

Could you try the drive in another system? Perhaps even try a different SATA cable, and try a different SATA port on the motherboard. Unfortunately, if the new hard drive is visible in the UEFI/BIOS and not detected in the Windows Disk Management application it probably a defective drive. If it wont format in a different PC then RMA it.

Make sure the sata mode is set to IDE in the bios, or, if set to ide, change it to ahci and see what happens.
Try a different sata port on your mobo: some of them are dedicated to raid and may not detect the hdd in windows unless you provide the drivers.
If still no joy, boot from the windows installation cd and go up to the screen where you select the destination drive: if the HDD is detected format it and then interrupt the installation and see what happens in windows, if the drive is not detected I would say it is faulty.
