BTEA on placement

Hi I am hoping someone can help me with a question I have.
I am on the back to education allowance and the 1st week of May I start a placement in Limerick until September as part of my course.
I will be commuting from Cork, the company are paying me 200 euro a week,my wife is not working and was a dependent on my btea claim.
I just got a letter out from the btea today asking me about the summer, can I keep the btea over the summer even though this company will pay me 200 per week as it states your allowed work on btea and keep it for the placement if its a necessary part of your course which it is but I am unsure if they will pay me the 200 do I lose everything including my wife`s claim as no way we can afford to do it on the 200 alone the commute will eat into a nice chunk of this and we have a lease on our house in Cork.
If anyone could provide me with some info I would be very thankful.
I tried calling the office several times this week and no one was answering,in the middle of exams and can`t get into them in person.

Not sure if this is much help to you but yes, you stay on BTEA as long as its part of your course, of course you need to get letters stamped and signed all over the place to prove this.

My other half was asked to come in for work experience early last July, college wasn't back til Sept. He went into the SW office to make sure he wasn't to be seen as working (even though it was unpaid).

They got him to fill out forms etc and he was paid into his bank account. As it was Summer he was on JSA before the work experience.

Towards the end his work experience he was paid €50 per week, we told the SW office and his payment stayed the same. We even put it in writing to them as if they then decided we were overpaid and reduced his payment later we would be screwed!

Feel free to PM me if you need more info.

You need to get a letter from your college stating that the work placement is a requirement of your course and that you are still registered as a student over the summer months to complete it. Give this to SW and you will continue to receive your BTEA and the placement payment. Several friends when through this last year without any problems.
